Open the image prior to posting and make any type of edit (such as a small crop), save, and upload.

That is EXACTLY what I had done... I even cropped the photo slightly and resaved it at lower resolution. It shows as portrait on the photo properties too... shows portrait on my systems here.. Thanks for fixing it.
