Posting Pictures
Is there a trick to posting pictures so that they don't rotate?
Tried a couple of different times today but the picture always rotates 90* to the left. Didn't have to rotate it after taking it, and it looks fine on the computer, just not here.
Thanks in advance!

I looked at your profile and couldn't find any album(s), so the pictures you're trying to post must be coming from a source other than JOF. You might want to try uploading them to a photo album here and posting them if you haven't tried this already.

Thanks for the responses.
Snake - the picture is not from an iPhone
FPM - I was trying to load directly from my laptop, but I'll try creating an album instead.

I upload all mine to Photobucket and then link them here and they seem to work fine. I asked about Apple because when my wife sends me pics from her iPhone they are always sideways. I don't know why but they are always sideway.

Mine are from an iPhone and always sideways. I'll try the Photobucket method. Thanks

If you edit the pics on your computer (I usually just reduce them in size a bit) and save them they post in the correct orientation.
At least for me.

Thanks Ladd, someone posted something similar in the thread I was struggling with and it worked perfectly for me.
Hopefully this will help others with the same issue!

Before posting, do a crop (even minimal) to the photo, re-save and use that for posting. That seems to work.

Robkelly... go look under the heading “pics of your Jayco” I had the same issues, I’d love to shoe all the crap I’ve done on our new 5er but I’m just a dumb carpenter and not a computer guy

Yep. They can’t be wider than they are tall or they flip to landscape

Follow the crop “rule” and never have a problem with my iPhones or iPads

Sort of a different question. Is it possible to attach a photo to a Private Message? I see the link where it asks for a URL to an outside image, but nothing that will allow me to attach a photo from my computer. I can attach a photo to a regular post, but not a P.M.
What am I missing, or is it not possible?

This has come up before. I’ll verify but as I remember the vBulletin software won’t do it.

You could put the photo in your Pictures & Albums on JOF and use that link
within a Private Message. You can also do the same within Social Group messages.
Of course you could always just send the member to your Pictures & Albums (possibly using the option to make the Album Type Private only visible to Contacts and Moderators);
https://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/members/albums.html
We promise not to look unless you specifically invite us.

I plug my iPhone into my laptop and upload them from File Explorer. Gave up a long time ago with trying to upload from my iPhone (real PIA). No issues doing it this way.

Thanks, I'll try that and see if it works. The photo is currently sitting on my Desktop, so I'll upload it to a album, and try to attach the link to it in the PM.
