Shadow Banning?

Does any body know if this site does shadow banning. That is blocks opposing views. Just discovered twitter does it all the time.

If they did have that agenda, someone would have to get fired, since a number of anti Jayco posts are on here daily.. someone with a complaint is over 10 times more likely to make a post as someone who is happy...good to remember.

Twitter, Facebook, google all have agendas and yes, they do block, skew, whatever, anything that goes against that point of view.

"Shadow banning (also called stealth banning, ghost banning or comment ghosting) is the act of blocking a user or their content from an online community such that the user does not realize that they have been banned."

The Site Team has the power to edit & remove text/posts/threads and, if necessary, ban any user who violates our Community Rules (the link to these is at the bottom of the web pages).

JOF members do have some shadow banning abilities of their own, though. In the User CP, they can ignore other users, threads and forums. So if any of these make your blood pressure rise, you can do something about it.

Well at least here you know if your posts have been edited or removed, and you know if you have been banned lol. So it's not shadow banning, it's the real thing.

We work really hard to retain posts. When there are problem posts, typically the poster will be notified via PM by the site team.

Very few folks have been banned from this site and then only after repeated intervention by moderators. Often if there is a problem it's because someone hasn't read the rules. They allow for posts critical of Jayco but we expect folks to be polite and pose their opinion in a way that you would be pleased to have your kid read.

We allow posts about broken jaycos, bad design, quality control concerns and general whinges. We don't however allow posts that appear to be designed to smear a dealer and coerce them into some action for an owner. We have found that there are almost always to sides to every story and sometimes we have new posters who register for this purpose.

Things that are not allowed here are political and religious topics. They are divisive to the community and almost always end badly. They are not rv related. When we see these they are removed and the posters notified. This would not result in a ban unless it happened over and over again.

The rules are pretty simple:

be nice
be helpful
be reasonable
no soliciting and no spamming

The site is not affiliated with Jayco or their parent company and the site team are volunteers. I accept bribes of dark chocolate however and the site team likes donuts as well
