Why does this happen?
Why do I keep getting this?. Sometimes for a half hour

I get it all the time. I've learned to just give up and come back to the site in 30 or 40 minutes.

Same here, more frequently in the last 7-10 days ........, seems to pop-up when the web site and/or page is struggling to open (lol, it just did it on 1st attempt to submit this reply!).

I have been getting hit with this 522 error frequently for the last week or two, and it usually lasts only a few seconds, maybe as much as a minute. What I really find interesting is that I get it at THE SAME TIME from the irv2.com forums. Must use the same hosting service and servers.
My guess? Server performance (too many connections or page requests) or Internet bandwidth limitations. It could be a whole lot of things, however.

Happens here too and I just keep trying for a couple of minutes and it goes away. Flaky connection somewhere in the network whether it's the hosting site or somewhere in the path.
I always clipboard my reply before attempting to post. I've lost too many replies to not do that.

Just ran into this yet again on my way to the site. Went to another forum to kill some time and checked back in here with no problems about 10 minutes later. Seems to happen quite a bit in the last week or so.

The JOF uses CloudFlare.
Error 522 occurs because CloudFlare could not connect to the origin web server.
CloudFlare demands resources from the server quickly. If the server fails to serve CloudFlare within time, then the error 522 shows up.
So it's a results of both the server JOF is on responding to CloudFlare too slowly and also the JOF is using CloudFlare.
Not sure if Cloudflare is something new that they have implemented for the JOF.

It just happened to me about 15 minutes ago several times in a row. I could get to the home page, but when I clicked on New Posts, I would get the error. Also, the home page was showing me as logged out but, when the errors finally stopped, I was logged in again.
