Doing your own maintenance

I do all my own vehicle maintenance. I use, good parts, good fluids, good workmanship . Satisfaction guarantee.

One bolt challenged me. Crankshaft pulley on a Honda civic. Harsh words had no effect. 3/4 drive socket an extension, a 4 foot Johnson bar and a piece of pipe. Talk about a big bang. Wow when it let loose , everything went flying. Replaced the leaking Crankshaft seal and the job was done.

Been there and done that on the Civic crank bolt. Camry's, Accords, CRVs, Odysseys too. They have a big thick belleville washer on them and that's actually what has all the tension on them. I bought a special socket this last time that is thicker because I have broken standard impact sockets trying to remove these and the chrome ones as well when fighting with a breaker bar. Lots of choice words used making my Navy dad and grandpas proud I'm sure.

Funny you should mention that, my father -in -law was in the Army and he said he carried a clipboard around and always pretended he was doing something. From time to time he would sign out a Jeep from the motor pool with specific instructions ( on his clipboard)for things he was assigned that day.
