And since there are so few red headed step children we would we free to offend them forever. Seems safer to offend small groups than large.

Jeff,
roflmao. wow, your comment brought back memories (well maybe nightmares... ). You have it exactly right. Ship board life in a berthing area. There is no privacy, no offenses, no morality, and absolutely no modesty.

Only if you choose that they can't be ignored.
That and my wife's mood ring... It's proven to show when she is pissed at me for things because it shows a bright red color in the welt it leaves on my forehead.... lmao

"No offense intended" (Got to love that disclaimer)
Well, I waited 3 days before deciding to dive into this one... usually all the world problems would have been resolved, along with our national budget and our trade deficit.... in this time frame
To me, the subject of this post seems to fall in the same category as all the examples above.... It is all in how you look at the subjects. Using the above example, I would have interpreted the "Help, awning won't retract" as a request for trouble shooting suggestions as that person has no electrical or mechanical skills, or maybe it is their first RV after giving up tent camping. Plumbing, Electrical and troubleshooting, are not required for RVing, if they were, probably a good portion of the Rivers would not be RVing today.
I guess my thoughts are there is no such a thing as a DUMB question, but obviously others do/may not hold the same beliefs.
Without these questions or comments, how ever they are worded, there is no need for a forum.
As for my subjects, they usually leave a lot to the readers imagination.
Just my thoughts,
Don

Thanks Don,
You are right and I do firmly believe, there is no such thing as a stupid question. It is amazing how many times people will as a simple question which they already know the answer to for the purpose of reassuring themselves that they already knew the answer.
"Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth." - Baz Luhrmann
Even today, as I saw this subject line re-post the sarcastic jerk deep inside me tumble the thought through my head:
Thread title:
I can't be the only one.....
What my mind immediately wanted to answer with:
Yes you are the only one jerk now shut up.
I guess I am not immune even to my own self.
I am so glad that deep inner sarcastic thought process within me is held in check somewhere between my brain and mouth (or in the case of Forums, my fingers).

As you said in the thread you posted in the "jokes and humor" forum, it's no more offensive than Larry the cable guys "here's your sign" or Foxworthy's "You might be a redneck" routines. We can't loose the ability and freedom to poke a little fun at ourselfs or each other without people going all bat beep crazy. That's part of what you spent 26 years of your life trying to defend!

Exactly, because there are dumb questions. We've all asked them at one time or another because we didn't take the time to think it through first.
Here's our sign...,

Probably because all of us are underskilled, underpaid, oversupervised and we have gone so long doing so much with so little that we are now able to practically everything with nothing.

My bad. I just clicked on the "recent posts" lists on the right of my screen so I never even noticed that this was in the jokes and humor section.
Yes, I think many of us, including myself have had similar thoughts about some questions. Mine are usually less immediate. But I do get some of the same thoughts when someone comes to the forum asking for advice and then proceeds to disagree with or put down every suggestion that is offered.
