I was just talking to DW about that. We were thinking that it had a slash, LS/MFT or not. Anybody remember?

I remember kerosene-filled lighted smudge pots lining the road construction areas at night for safety. Saw a guy in Nebraska using an old beat up unit for mosquitoes.

I grew up in South Florida, so I remember the Coopertone Billboard that actually moved with a dog pulling down a girls swim suit. Was that just a FL thing or were they elsewhere too?

It was part of the National Ad campaign... At the start of the program, they shipped so many promotional items along with the "Coppertone" products that we had put all the items in the mezzanine... There even was a stuffed dog that was made to look like the dog pulling down the bathing suit...

This was Huntington Beach and Long Beach California

I'm so uid that my first army boots were brown (we ended up having to dye them black shortly afterwards)
... my rifle was a 10 pound M1 Garand until I became a motor pool grunt then it became a 5 pound M1 carbine popgun or Thompsin sub machine hun

6x6 trucks had ...6 wheels, no duallys
...Jeeps were WW2/Korea leftovers

Do you recall Dennis James saying the Chesterfields had "Not a cough in a carload" picturing a freight car. He may not have coughed but lung cancer killed him, same as the first Marlboro Man, Camel's - John Cameron Swaze along with Edward R Morrow and Chet Huntley (and then my mom)

Love this thread as it brings back memories, good along with a few not so great

I think this will only jog Northern Californian folks memory. Who remembers “Brown Derby Beer”? Flat top metal can ( not aluminum ) that took a “ church key “ to open. My dad would put a couple of six packs out for the garbage men about once a month because he had more garbage cans than he was supposed to.

I "bootlegged" coors beer back to Missouri. Stashed it in the tent camper like I was commiting a federal crime. Is the statue of limitations up yet?
Here is another one-high altitude tune ups.

I did the same thing, Dallas to Houston in the early ‘70s.

Statute of limitations? For “transporting gulls across state lines for immortal porpoises”?

Don't think I ever bought a tune up as a kit, but many, many points, condenser, cap, rotor, wires and plugs. Sometimes a coil.

Still have a dwell meter and timing light somewhere. I do know where my headlight brightness meter is. It's only good for the 7" round lamps. That used to be part of the annual state inspection.

They would swap for some leaner jets in the carb and advance your timing. Usually needed by flatlanders in the rockies. When your loaded down with coors.

If I recall, the windshield washer was a small pedal on the left side. If you pushed it slowly you could turn the wipers on hands free. It freaked out the passengers.
