Poems, anyone?

Retirement and RVing combine to give one pause for reflection. Here are some poems inspired by our dreaming and our camping. Hope anyone else who has put pen to paper will share as well:

When we’re both retired
We’ll be a traveling pair
Exploring our land

Hello, USA
We’ll travel on your back roads
Read books by your streams

Hello, Grand Canyon
Majestic beauty you are
Words fail me just now

Hello, Glacier Park
Perched in the mountains so high
Beauty’s all around

Hello, Yellowstone
Filled with Geysers and wildlife
Paint pots and twilight

Sometimes we’ll camp out
Sometimes we’ll opt for a hotel
Always we’ll eat well

Recording our trips
In memory and on film
Or digitally

Love will sustain us
As we cross the country twice
Taking in the sights

Lol... nice poem - mine starts like this....

When's retirment,
will it ever come?
and why aren't the children,
sitting on their bums?
Where's the dog,
and where's my tums?
Aw, for cripes sake,
I missed the turnpike AGAIN!

While I am teasing, I think it's great to keep a journal of your experiences while travelling. My parents still have their journals of all the trips we did as a family when we were kids. Unfortunately, I can't say I've been as diligent about it as they have, but I sure can't wait to get my hands on those journals and read them as an adult!

BTW, I had a friend who was a great musician - when I asked him why and how he found so much time to devote to writing music, he simply said, "because I have to. For me". Keep goin' with the poem's!
