What to do if you get lost

If you lose your way in the woods this might prove helpful.

If you are hiking with your wife and mother-in-law, you need not worry!

I recall a military survival class, in which they advised us to carry a miniature kit of the ingredients for a Martini.

The idea was that, as soon as you opened the kit, somebody would show up to tell you that you were mixing it wrong...

A great wilderness guide was ask if he had ever been lost. He replied “Nope, but I was bewildered for a couple of days once”.

I have never been lost. I have always known were I was at. That is, right here. The world around me has been confused from time to time.

A quote from one of my favourite authors:

"She wasn't the kind of person who ever became lost. It was just that, at the moment, while she knew exactly where SHE was, she didn't know the position of anywhere else.”

- Terry Pratchett, Wyrd Sisters

Took a wilderness survival course once. They advised if you ever become lost just lay over a log.....much easier to tie you to a horse when they find you.

Similar to the advise to grind the front sight off your pistol if you are in bear country.
