2011 season starting on the wrong foot!

My wife Sandy and I decided that we were going to move the trailer to get it ready for our first outting this year coming up on Mother's Day weekend:

I backed the truck up to the trailer, got all hooked up, truck and trailer would not move.

I realized that I did not put the battery back. Disconect to go get the battery, truck does not move.
Guess what I forgot to do......................TAKE OFF THE PARKING BRAKE on the truck. 1st dumb move this year!!!!

Reconnect the trailer, then release the parking brake.
Truck and trailer move!!! YEA!!

Brought the truck and trailer to the front of the house to check and fill tires on the trailer. Found a few tires rather low (39psi). Fill all tires to 50psi as recommended when cold.

Took the truck and trailer to the local dealer to get the LP tanks filled.
On the way home, we blew the right side tire on the back axle. 15 minutes on a busy highway fixing a flat tire.
Those Lynx level blocks make perfect ramps to change tires!!!!

Head back to the dealer to find out why the tire blew. They find a nail in the tire. New tire purchased to replace the spare now being used on the trailer.

Get back home to start the cleaning. Sandy plugs in our vacuum cleaner to vacuum the carpet. Vacuum runs for about 30 seconds. Breaker in the house trips. I am trying to figure out why a vacuum cleaner trips a 30 amp breaker in the house and not the 15 amp breaker in the trailer.

Reset breaker in the house. Vacuum runs for another 15 seconds. Breaker trips again.

Forget the vacuum. I bring out the shop vac. SAME THING AGAIN!!

Forget vacuuming the trailer.

Sandy and I decided enough is enough. We sit back and enjoy a few adult beverages and ponder all the problems encountered in the past two hours.

Electrical problem: house breaker turned out to be bad. It was rated for 30 amps, but after taking it apart, two contacts are bad. Making our 30 amp service only 10 amps. Replaced with new 30 amp breaker.

I sure hope the seasons bad luck is over.

The tires are 4 years old. We will be buying 4 new tires in a few weeks.

Wish us luck on season number 4!!!!

LOL! (or not?) I know the feeling of getting the tt ready after not camping for a few months. I'm betting you got all the bugs worked out and will have a great Mom's Day Weekend!!

Daryl, you gotta look at the bright side, at least it wasn't pouring rain when you were changing the flat.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. It seems that many of us are experiencing a rough spring 2011. Flat tires, bad breakers, tree damage for two of us. With a little luck we are now on the up swing.

Thanks to everyone for letting me vent my frustrations for a very unlucky day.

We have recovered and now ready to go camping. My dealer has been so helpful.
I got a new GoodYear Marathon ST205/75/15 for $90.00 as a spare.

I went back to them today and got 4 brand new tires at $80.00 each since I bought 5 all together, PLUS I will receive a $50.00 refund from Good Year.

After all is said and done.......................This weekend was very helpful.
This was my first trailer tire blow out. I knew to use the lego blocks as a ramp to get the front tire on the ramp and the back axle off the ground.

I have seen those ramps they sell for about $40.00, but they look like they take up a lot room. I already have the Lynx level blocks, so why take up the room with another product.

Anyway...........THANKS AGAIN.

I know that things are looking up because we just had two days of sunshine on Sat and Sun. This will be followed by 5 days of rain.
