This says a lot about how much faith he has in Ganassi -
"If we come out of the gate [as] gangbusters and we've got five wins by July Daytona, well let's talk about 2020."
Why didn't they discuss a 2 or 3 yr deal right off the bat if he likes what he sees so much

I don't think anyone would disagree that going from SHR to Ganassi is a step down no matter how he tries to twist it in the media.

It shouldn't be a step fown. An assistant spends money am wins in other series I never understood why he doesn't do the same in NASCAR. Unless it's not a matter of what's being done but who the drivers are. I always here how great Larson is yet he doesn't win a lot. Your not good at runnin the wall unless you can do it an win instead of always hittin the wall. McMurray just never to me was real hungry or aggressive.
Let's see what Kurt can does can he can drive an he is aggressive.. It'll be a true tell all. Has it been the company all this time or has it been the drivers the whole tine

A guy like Busch should be a good measuring stick for that team. 30 wins, a championship, and he hasn't been a has been the last couple of years. If he can come in there, run hard, and show results, you know where the issue was.

The only negative may be that he has historically been really hard on equipment.

And a attitude. I'm curious how that attitude and Ganassi will work. He ain't scared to voice his opinion and Kyle only does it here and there but nothing to the extent Kurt does.

I don't know how he will fit in. But when the attitude comes from someone who can wheel a race car, it's a lot easier to accept than when it is someone who can't back it up.

Ya but Ganassi has plenty of drivers across the spectrum that I can't imagine have half the attitude when they get pissed

True, very true.

He also doesn't have a cup championship. You could put up with alot to have success in that business I would imagine.

I'm also cautiously excited about Newman over in the #6 car. Roush needs some serious help. Newman is a smart cookie and was at one time a very good driver. He falls in to that "is it him or the equipment" category? Childress equipment has been marginal at best for several years, especially since Harvick left. I'm not saying Roush stuff is any good at all. But, I think Newman will have the opportunity there to make a positive impact and not have to play 2nd or 3rd fiddle to Childress's grandchildren.

Ya I forgot about Newman. I believe in the beginning his engineering degree propelled him to the rocket man status but his knowledge has been surpassed with the ever evolving sport. He'll do alright but I don't expect many wins or even being in the playoffs. Roush needs more help than a driver, they need to get out of the 90's an try new things, spend some money. Seems to me they continue down the same path expecting different results, some call that definition of insanity. Of the upper tier Ford teams they are the worse an Penske ain't sharing like they were supposed to. SHR prolly never got into that agreement so they're not helpin much either. Jack is on an island an I believe some of it may be of his own doing.

Kensith had a couple of decent runs in that #6 car toward the end of the season. I don't know, maybe there is more there than we think.

But remember a race or two of those all the top contenders had issues or he'd of never finished in top 10.

Bush to the 41 could be interesting but Newman to anything other than the retirement home is a "who cares" category. Sorry about the Newman thing, but got tired of his rep of "the toughest guy to pass in Nascar". Seems that he just hangs around, gets in people's way, and manages to eke out a top 15 finish when others drop out. Like Kennsa sp he has to be one of the hall of fame most boring sponsor reps. I have learned to like Kurt B in recent years as he seems to have worked hard to change is "dangerous" personality in what seemed to be his battle to keep up with Kyle. Hope he does well in his new and probable last ride.

Newman did lead one category this year. Most laps completed.
