What's your call for the weekend?

I'd have a hard time betting against any of the final 4.

We still have snow on the ground from the other day. We may get above freezing later if all goes well.

Just sitting inside watching Xfinity practice sipping hot chocolate.

Watching the practice coverage this afternoon and a couple of story lines keep coming up.

First, so much talk about the #11 giving up the 1st pit stall for the #18.

Second, the Jimmy and Chad breakup over at the #48 team. I've lost a lot of respect for Johnson over his statements recently. I understand that he and Chad have grown apart, which is fine. But I really wish Johnson would leave it at that. Throwing Chad under the bus after 80+ wins and 7 championships is without class.

Maybe that isn't a good choice of words. Jimmy just keeps blaming Chad for his lack of performance over the last year. I don't know, Is it Knaus that keeps hitting everything out there except the Pace Car?

Sometimes drivers and crew chiefs just need to have a fresh start. I hope it works out for them. But my gut keeps telling me that Byron is going to be in victory lane with Knaus next year while Jimmy keeps sniffing the back of the field.

Like some crew chiefs drivers also get stuck with what worked. Maybe the engineering has passed both of them up. I think the there's fault on both sides because if the 18, 4, 78, 9 amd who ever else cam start in the back am finish top 10 then something is up. Jimmy works out sure but what he does doesn't help eye amd hand coordination. He also has a cretin way he drives every track. Change the car change the line, don't like the line u don't go fast. Then theres Chad. Out of ideas maybe. Johnson can't drive the cars he used to if he wants to admit it or not. An of they got along as great as they say they do they wouldn't be runnin as bad ot splitting up. Unless they ate like the man an woman who love each other to death just can't live with each other.
Only those 2 know. Me, I'm back lookin for that was seems to be thus year elusive brown animal they call a deer

You have a lot of good points. It isn't working and I agree that a change is needed. I just think that this is going to be an eye opening event for Johnson.

As far as the deer are concerned. come on over. There are a few that bed down by my barn every night. They are so darn tame that they don't even bother to stand up when you leave for work in the morning and walk right past them to get to the trucks.

I know I'm getting soft in my old age, but I'm hoping they make it through the season here. I kind of like seeing them around.

That's a shame. Too many people with cancer anymore. One of our long time friends died last month after a year long battle. And, there are 2 more people at work that have it right now. Scary stuff.

I think the 11 giving up pit #1 is just the tip of the iceburg. I expect to see Formula 1 type team work today. Thought team rules were a violation of nascar rules?? Might as well add another scandal to the year.

Also am predicting a boring race with the non champion 4 spending the whole race getting out of the way. With the exception of the 2 and maybe the 9, those without team rules will allow this to be a 4 car race. No tight racing for fear someone might take out a champ car.

So guess my feeling is out. Will be glad when the race / season is over. I know I will hate the off season but will be hoping that there are rule changes for 2019 that mediate the carry over of playoff points earned during the season. Note I said mediate [alter] not eliminate the playoff point thing.

It will be a long afternoon and I may get in some football when I get tired of watching cars following and getting out of the way of the big 3.

.
It wasn't that many years ago that NASCAR all but destroyed Michael Waltrip Racing over team orders at Richmond effecting the outcome of the playoff pucture. Apparently the "rules" don't apply to coach Gibbs.
