2018 NASCAR Season Thread

Well, here it is. After a long winter, the Duals are tonight in Daytona. The team rosters are looking rather thin with most of the big name drivers gone from the sport. But who else is looking forward to the new season?

I was ready for it as soon as huntin season was over. Renewed tickets for Darlington today and since they are selling the historic metal chairs because they are replacing them I ordered one of those. I hope I can get the one I have been sitting in since I don't know when.
Be gettin ready to go to Atl next week until then

I had tickets for years at Daytona in the Lockhart tower. I don't know what they did with those seats when the did the remodel, but it would have been cool to have one of those.

They sold them, or at least some of them.

I'm ready for the new season, but a lot of the drivers I liked are no longer driving, so it's the young guns coming up to the next level of competition.

I certainly wasn't paying attention.

It would have gone great with my Michael Waltrip Daytona 500 winning tire from the #15 DEI Car that I have in our house.

I've never been to Darlington. I've always wanted to but I can never seem to get away on the weekends they host.

Labor Day weekend is great. A bit toasty and the last 2 yrs we survived a hurricane and then last year a tornado on Friday but it was fun.

I used to really enjoy the races but over the past several years with all the new rules and restrictions it has become very boring. I just sold the last of my man cave NASCAR stuff, I had a brand new Aflac hood signed by Carl Edwards, DeWalt hood signed by Matt Kenseth, and the whole roof section from one of Greg Biffles Subway cars, along with a bunch of small stuff. Its nice to have the Roush museum and store not to far away, its Jacks personal toy box filled with all kinds of racing history.

Looks like you have a great view from your seats. Don't even think of going to Pocono. Can't see anything.

I have an autographed rear bumper section from one of Rusty Wallace's blue Miller cars that he autographed. I'll most likely be buried with it LOL.

My in-laws have a place approx 40 minutes from the track. Even with that, it isn't worth going back. It's that bad.

My personal favorites are Richmond and Martinsville in that order.

Might try to get to Richmond this year, again. It's not the cost of the ticket it's the fuel to get there more than anything. Tickets these days are inexpensive other than Daytona it's everything else that goes with it. I can't, should I say won't eat hot dogs and hamburgers so the food bill is not always the cheapest.

I got lucky with the hoods during one of the open houses before the Michigan race, a local radio station had an online auction for charity and had all kinds of goodies. I bid $150 on each hood and won, when I went to pick them up the girl said you got a steal since not many seemed to know about the auction and I was the only bidder on the hoods. At the end of the open house the hoods were hanging on a wall so she had a few guys take them down, at the same time Jack, Matt, and Carl walked by and Jack said you boys need to autograph those hoods. They just sold for $1200 each, I hated to see them go but it was time. I was a Tony Stewart fan for many years, he seemed to be the one that started all the big names leaving one by one.

Wow, that's a great story. I wish I could run in to deals like that.
