That is really cool to see him interacting with the drivers. Its was also pretty interesting to know that this isn't the first tine that he has attended the 500.

In the defense of everyone reporting on it they couldn't confirm it. Having POTUS show up at an event with 100,000+ people and advertising he's comin would have could have caused issues with security

If that came from a credible source, then maybe.... but we know their history. Plus, numerous other sites had the correct information, so it wasn't really a secret.

Let's get back to talking about the racing shall we........

Looking forward to seeing a little of the race tomorrow afternoon. It's unfortunate that they had to have another rain postponed 500. Biggest race of the year and you have to put everything on hold.

In case anyone was wondering....Texas Motor Speedway opened the infield this weekend. I came to watch racing. Friday night, had no way to see the truck race, the campground I was staying at had cable, no channel with Gander race. Track didn't open until 900am Saturday, I passed through the South Tunnel at 0915am. Couple of hundred campers already there.
Got to watch Erik Jones win with a junk car. We're good. That after several BIG wrecks.
We all know what happened today...fast forward to 535pm, banner running during the replay of 2019 Daytona 500 announced "Infield will be closed two hours after checkered flag." Ok, well darn, at this rate it will be 1000pm...started rigging down. Decided would spend the night in the 'free lot' after the race. About 555pm, someone with TMS came by and told us rain had started again at Daytona, but 'we' could spend the night in the infield as could anyone else who was there...I was all but ready to move.
At 600pm, the banner changed to "Daytona 500 to be run at 400pm EST tomorrow."
I moved from the infield to the "Free Lot" at 615pm, BigHoss showing nothing but stars.
Just heard on the local news over 5,000 attended the "watch party" for the race that wasn't run.

That is an incredible turnout. Is this the 1st time that they have had a watch party or is this an annual event?

This is the second year they opened the infield for this event. They estimated 3,500 came last year and I'd say 5,000 is pretty accurate. The infield was 75% opened to vehicles, and I saw LOTS of campsites with 10-15 people partying to beat the band all afternoon. For the most part everybody behaved, but because of the 'state of impairment' someone made a wise decision to keep the infield open.

Yes, it was probably a really good deal to not force anyone out at that point.

Really cool deal all the way around.
