Our 10 year old twins crossed over yesterday to the Troop. Also have a 12 year old in the Troop. I`m now Scout Master again after a 12 year run as asst SM. My run as Webelos leader is also now over after the crossover. Will be nice to have one meeting a week now and be able to concentrate just on Boy Scouts!

Congratulations! I am taking my 10 year old to his last den meeting tonight. They are making their arrows for Arrow of Light , and cross over on Saturday. Both boys will be in the troop, and Monday can go back to the Fire Co!
Oh well, you know scouts... It's just an hour a week!

I was a Scout from tigers through high school. I never got my Eagle with much unfortunately. I have 2 boys both scouts, a Tiger and a Webelo. My wife is the Tiger leader. I wish I could be more involved , but i work afternoon shift and would never be able to be at the meetings. It is fun watching and help my boys do a lot of the things i remember doing as a Scout.

I was a Cub and Boy and Venture Scout. I earned my Eagle in 1994 when I was 15. I was also one of the first 10 Venture Scouts in the country to earn the Ranger Award.

I absolutely loved Scouting and learned so much that served me well as an adult. I have twin 2-1/2 year olds and hope they will join scouting and follow in their father's foot steps.

Was in Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, and Ventures from early 80s into the 90s. Received my Chief Scouts Award in 89 or 90 IIRC. Seems like a lifetime ago. Some of the best times I ever had was with my troop on Grand Manan Island, New Brunswick (look it up....big place...really). Made several trips to a US camp in Maine but cannot recall the name of it now.

Beaver, is that a Canadian Scouting designation? We do not have that one here that I`m aware of.

I just retired from scouting...well sort of. Since my son earned Eagle I thought I would take a break and let some of the younger dad's take over. Now DW wants some help getting the girls camping more, so I guess I'll be doing that for a while.

I was a Boy Scout from 1953 - 56/57. My girls did the Brownie/Girl Scout thing until they were about 16. Had cases of GS cookies in the house for years!

I was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout in the late 60s. Camped at Valley Forge in the snow and in the desert the next year in California. I was also a leader from 85 to 96. Did a bout as Den Leader, Webelos Leader and Assistant Scout Master. My sons went thru Cubs and my daughter was Girl Scout. Still love camping in a tent but prefer a hammock now for 'under the canvas camping'.

I'm an Eagle with 3 Palms from the late 80's and early 90's. Our troop was VERY active. We camped at least once a month all across Texas and had 2 "High Adventure" trips each Summer along with a regular Summer Camp. We did everything from attending the Summer Olympics in Atlanta to canoeing the Boundary Waters in Northern Minnesota to backpacking all over the mountains of Colorado and New Mexico to water skiing and fishing Lake Sam Rayburn. I've been to Philmont twice; once for a regular backpacking trek and a second time to attend National Junior Leadership Instructor Camp. My brother (also an Eagle) went through the same troop ahead of me. He's much older and was gone by the time I joined, so my dad got to witness and participate in two complete Boy Scout careers. He held virtually every leadership position available to the parent of a scout, and I held several different youth leadership positions over the years.

Needless to say, I'm somewhat well-versed in the ways of the outdoors. I'm quite an experienced backpacker and camper and I used to be almost as much at home in a tent as I was in my own living room. I had been out of the game for a while during and after college, so when I grew up and got married, I decided I wanted to get back into the outdoors. I grabbed all my gear, grabbed my wife, and off we went. We went backpacking exactly twice before she said "never again". Between her heat exhaustion, and the fact that we couldn't have had worse weather unless it had snowed (on both trips), I can't really blame her. Granted, in her perception, a "disastrous and miserable weekend out in the sticks" was a normal jaunt in the woods for me. At least we didn't get wet and were able to walk on a nice trail of decomposed granite, we didn't get injured, dehydrated or hungry, and all of our equipment worked flawlessly, what's not to like?!

And that is how we ended up with our Jayco. She said she would never go camping with me again unless she had a "solid roof" over her head and a warm dry place to sleep. So now that we're in a place in our lives where we can afford it, and our 28BHBE was my compromise to be able to get my "camping" fix. I know it's not really camping so much as RVing, but it's close enough for me!!

Cub Scout in the late 70's. Grew up overseas (missionaries kid) and most of my pack, and all of our leaders, were from the UK. Really confused them when it came time to memorize the national anthem because none of them knew the Star Spangled Banner.

Eagle Scout here from the late 80's. My son just got his Eagle in May of 2013. He is still active with the Troop and now the Venture Crew. I am still an Assistant Scoutmaster and Associate Advisor. We are both active in the Order of the Arrow also. I stepped upto the TT due to my sleep apnia and needing a CPAP at night to sleep.

I was a Cub Scout, then graduated to Webelos where I earned the Arrow of Light. I then moved on to Boy Scouts where I earned my Eagle in 1986 at the age of 14. So many memories of camping, hiking, patch trading, and late night snipe hunting. I also attended the National Scout Jamboree in 1985 at Fort A.P. Hill. Many, many, fond memories. Now I am the father of two young daughters, the oldest a former Girl Scout.

I got my Friends Of Scouting ( fund raising ) packet in the mail today. If you have any extra... I'm sure a council near you could use it.

Give a little back.

I was a cub scout and boy scout from the late 70s to mid 80s. I can still remember the nasty smell of the canvas Baker's tents we had back then. Camp Karankawa near Mathis, TX was a great place to be as a kid but one of my most memorable camping trips was to Philmont.
