Sorry for your loss. I lost my father (93) a WWII Pacific Vet a few years ago. A little story about the Pacific he was on board a repair ship off Guadalcanal and found one of his brothers a See Bee was there. He managed to bring him aboard ship and feed him. He hadn't had any real food for weeks and got so sick after eating that good food. This was one of my father's favorite memories of the war. I miss him very much.

Sorry for your loss. This original thread was started almost a month ago and every day we lose more of our heroes from WWII. Many never came back to tell us about it and those that did may have not been able to relive the horrors they faced for us and our great country.

Read Citizen Soldiers by Stephen Ambrose sometime if you have not heard the stories of the valiant men who died for us.

I relish the stories my wife's grand dad would tell when he was on a ship in Africa during WWI. His job was a boat pilot when in port and a Mule farrior when at sea. Oh the stories.

Thank You to all of our Vets!

Our deepest condolences to you and your family. We lost our Dad last December at 96. He too was a WWII vet in England, France and finally the Phillipines.

Mine also LST in the Pacific, lost in July this year. When I ask the name of his LST he told me he was in before they named them.

The GREATEST generation

Dear friend. Sorry for your loss. Indeed the greatest generation. My father served in ww2. My grandfather served in ww1. My father inlaw served in ww2 and nothing ever rattled them in later years. I try to be like them. .....best wishes for you and your family.

Your Father was an American Hero who answered the call of Freedom. To all out there - if you see an older WWII veteran having dinner in a restaurant, Pick Up the Tab. It feels great!
