Smile Bald Eagle

Just thought I would share this. Went out on the upper deck, ocean side, this morning with a coffee. We had our first light skiff of snow. Red/pink sunrise and the largest bald eagle in the cove came over my right shoulder from behind, about 10 to 12 feet away. Wingspan around 6 feet.

Eagle flared out and landed in it's spotter tree in an explosion of snow cascading down, lit by the coloured sunlight.

Power and grace.........several minutes before I could move. I then realized it is probably the great grandson of one of the first we saw when we started coming up here.

Boy Seann, you nailed it. My first thought was I wonder where my camera is......the one with the dead battery.

We are fortunate that there are lots of Bald Eagles here. There is one pair that I see almost everyday from my boat when I`m working, along with many Ospreys, or as the locals call them, "Fish Hawks".

Got the ospreys here as well, same nickname, Fish Hawks. My wife has the Skipper of one of the local crab boats speed dialled into her phone.

Hey, Crabman, we have a few of those "Osprey's" flying around West Texas as well....not the kind like you see, ours have two big rotors, make a lot of noise and says U.S. Air Force on the side.

And as far as bald eagles, Dave, I have seen them a only couple times in my life in the Northern New Mexico mountains above 8600 ' elevation. Would love to see them up close and personal like you did. They are a sight to behold for sure.

We have eagles on lake Coeur d'Alene every winter. The Fish Hawks are fun to watch on our river lot in the summer.

Dan, the wind makes a cool sound as it flows over their feathers. I really need to remember there is a camera in my phone.
