Blue Exterior Slide Wrap??????

I seen something in the CG last week that has me a little confused.

There was a TT with it's super slide extended and it appeared to have had a blue cloth material that covered the exposed ends and top of the slide....., what the heck was it?? Some sort of insulating cover???

I "think" it was an Outback TT, but don't remember for sure. One thing for sure the blue color didn't match any of the TT's exterior colors!

I wasn't seeing things......, check this out:

The above pics were of a new Outback TT that I ran across at the CG over the Memorial Day weekend. I spoke with the owner and he said that the canvas covers were already installed by the dealer when he purchased it from their lot. He didn't know much about the blue covers other than that Lippert sold the rights to them to another manufacture.

I can't figure out the real advantage to them, they don't function like "slide toppers" because they don't go over the outer top edge of the slide...., so debris still can get trapped. The cover does however cover the slide seals.

Have yet to find out who is presently making them.

Oh, the owner of the Outback TT said the dealer told him that it was a major project installing them.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm. Not sure what the advantage is either from that rig. Insulate the slide to keep it cooler in the Summer maybe? Just a guess.

Looks like Lippert's Solera Slide Out Sleeve.

After "googling" Lippert's Solera Slide Out Sleeve (also there is a youtube post on the sleeve which I didn't watch) it looks like it was meant to keep out water and leave the outside maintance free.... but it also appears that the dealer didn't completely install his blue sleeve by leaving off the top part! If you're still at the cg, tell the poor guy to go back to the dealer and have them finish the job (?) LOL

Looks like some posts have mysteriously disappeared from some other threads as well .

Bob

The switch to the new host server finally took place. A number of threads and/or postings posted during this time period were lost during the process. Looks like we are good to go now!
