Buyin yourself a Christmas present

After catching up on the post about Christmas music I figured it's not too early to throw this put there.
Has or does anyone by themselves a Christmas present? Seems even year I buy something close to Christmas and say Merry Christmas to me. It did get me in trouble a few times though and my wife got mad at me and told me I can't buy myself anything for the month of Dec.
Once I needed a new jig saw and they were on sale so I bought one. My wife's eyes lit up and she walked out of the garage. A few minutes later she walked back in the garage and said here you may as well take it now it was your Christmas present. It was a jig saw. Then there was the year I bought a really good 900 Lumen Tactical flashlight which didn't go over well because she already ordered one. But I guess that went over better than the year I bought some huntin gear that was on sale that not knowing she had already bought some of.
Needless to say after the past 5-6 or so yrs of aggrevating my wife with surprise Merry Christmas to me gifts I've tried to stop it.

My gift is to the Humane Society and others every Christmas and during the year when help is needed. We also transport abandon and displaced animals to help with these evacuations from the fires. Here's one from Redding I placed last week and his name is Cash with a new name tag and harness from PetSmart.

Just remember, there used to be a saying that went something like "whoever dies with the most toys wins". I think there was an error in translation somewhere, as it should have read "whoever dies with the most tools wins".

Sounds like all you have to do is: Think about it and she buys it..............

I wouldn't buy myself anything, just think about what you want and it will APPEAR..............LOL

DW and I no longer buy each other Christmas gifts. Instead we buy ourselves what we want during the after-Christmas sales. That way, there’s no duplication and no disappointment, and no worrying about whether the other person likes it.

I think she already knows what I'm thinkin that's why she gets upset because for every item I may buy there's one of her ideas out the window or I get 2 of the same which isn't always bad. Can't ever have too many flashlights,

My wife and I rarely exchange gifts for Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. Even when we did, it was something simple. We buy for our kids though.

You can always send the second one to me. I'm not far away and will even pick it up.

We have everything we want so we buy for the dog, the grandkids, and the TT but not always in that order. Kids got theirs for their life time with college educations paid for by the bank of mom and dad.

After too many years of me giving the wrong color and wrong size gift to my wife, I now give her a gift that's always the right color, but always too small....$$$ She always buys me what I NEED, not necessarily what I want..But it's all good, we both get what we want, were very blessed, and our wants are small..

Aahh! I just did it you guys. I ordered a Keurig after years with a percolator. The perc actually is a reminder of my dad who is soon to be 98 years old. He always used one, so like father like son I have enjoyed it. Anyways, my DW informed me that she was going to get me one for Christmas. Aahh, I screwed this one up! Sorry Dear!

Last year we were both opening a last little extra gift for each other. They were both the exact same model and color essential oil diffuser. We took one of them back.

Unhappy

The last few years we eliminated the duplication of gifts, the wrong colors, model.... by putting them in a Amazon wish list (each of us have at least one) that the wife and kids can look at, and purchase. I put the item, usually some electronics part for my projects with an explanation of what it is/does... no more questions and I pretty much know that a few of the items will pop up at Christmas or my birthday 3 days after Christmas.

I also keep a "PRIVATE" wish list, which I keep my list of items that I do not expect them to purchase for me. A larger hard-drive for the home server and Alexa (Christmas in July gift) needed someone to talk to (other than us or the lights), she was getting lonely just answering questions and playing music, so I purchased my ecobee 4 thermostat (for her) with 3 additional room sensors... which arrived on Wednesday, Christmas in January will be the 12Volt DC electric Water Ball valve for the TT, to turn the water on/off from the front door or bathroom, as the water will automatically turn off at 10PM (another late night water leak in a TT this summer).

The lists go on and on and on...
