Cats or Dogs?

Which do you prefer cats or dogs, something else, or nothing?

Our family has had a few cats for many years. Mostly the DW's cats.

I have, and prefer both, so I couldn't answer the poll. Both have their pros and cons.

Like asking me if I like Whiskey *or* Beer.

Dogs will tear up your house when they are puppies, cats will do it their entire life. If you die on your couch, your dog will sit by your side until someone shows up, your cat will eat you.

Cats come in convenient travel sizes, and are fun to snuggle with, clean themselves mostly, pur and then hork up FURDS all over your carpet that they've probably been using as a scratching post for x years.

Currently I have a cat. A slightly obese cat named Oscar.
I'm partial to cats and always been more of a cat fan. Of course I adore dogs too. I would actually collect the neighborhood stays as a kid. Kept em all on the back porch and fed them whatever food I had access too as a 10 year old. I.E. Mostly scraps.

I've always had a dog and Tunce just loves playing on the beach with the kids she meets and this goes on all day long by night time she's mine again.

I think a sugar glider would make a nice RV pet.

We are cat people through and through. Currently have 7 - all feral rescues with the expected myriad of health issues and various levels of socialization that range from live in the house and sleep on the bed to put the food down and I might let you pet me.... Wouldn't trade them for anything......

We currently have 3 rescue cats that do travel with us. We have had dogs in the past (Great Danes, Dalmatians, Brittany Spaniel). Wife prefers the cats because we do not have to take them out to do their business. We haven't had any major issues. Wife has figured out that she cannot put in the slides until they are in their carrying crate.

I voted dogs, but I don't like all dogs, they are like people so I judge on a case by case basis. Cats all seem the same to me, but I am fine with as long as they stay off my keyboard!

Like most polls like this, this poll is skewed. It assumes that people will either prefer cats or prefer dogs, ignoring the possibility there are people who may not prefer one over the other, liking both equally well.

Both cats and dogs have their advantages and disadvantage. While certain kinds of animals will tend to have their own personality traits, those traits will vary widely from individual to individual.

In my case, it depends considerably on the personality of the individual animal. I've known ornery and sweet individuals in both species.
