Check your seldom-used equipment

So last weekend we were out, and the water connection was just a little bit too far for my preferred fresh water hose. No worries, I carry 2 for just this occasion!!

So I dug the other hose out, got it all put together, pressure regulator, filter, etc. all hooked up. Turned the water on and it was like a water park! BOTH ends of my second hose were spraying all over the place!

Well, come to find out that the hose ends had split around the repairs I had done previously. No problem, got those all fixed up, cut out the split hose and replaced the repair ends, got it all hooked back up. STILL had a water park! One of the repair ends was defective and was leaking, A LOT. I carry a couple extra O-rings, so I popped one in hoping it would hold, NOPE, still got a leaker.

So I had to put the one hose on, which was literally hanging off the ground it was so tight, until I could get to the local hardware store (closed at 5 ) to get a new hose end repair kit!

Lesson learned: periodically check your seldom-used equipment, lest it fail when you finally need it after it's been sitting for a year!

I witnessed our neighbor with a nice fountain from his hose a couple weekends ago. I have 3 hoses up front for some reason and I do need two of those from time to time. #3 is the emergency one I guess. Or the loaner if the neighbor can't fix theirs!

Could you not move your rig a little closer?

I suppose we could have moved the rig, but then that would be the second time we would have had to hook it back up to move it that day. First, we overshot the leveling blocks, so we hooked it back up and re-configured. I was NOT going to hook up and move AGAIN for the stinking hose!

Another item that seems to get overlooked are the spare tires on both the TT and the TV. I've heard you can easily loose 1 to 2 lbs of pressure a month. It is just easy to forget. I also carry a tire inflator as a back-up, if I remember to take it out of my ATV.

The black tank flush hose wouldn't add enough length?

Put a couple repair ends, male and female, with the hose washers just in case. If I don't use them a neighbor will.
