Just completed a great 4 day camping trip to the Pinery Provincial Park. On the way back Sunday afternoon, about 3pm, a deer jumped out of the corn field, right in front of us. It happend so fast, only had time to lift the foot off the gas. A big thump! The DW and I came thru it no problem, the truck is a little bent, but the deer is no more. Some deer poop even sprayed back onto the front of the Jayco. The funny thing is, I have deer whistles on the front of the truck. Maybe they just spooked the deer more? Who knows.

Glad it turned out the way it did (sorry about the TV damage though)...., I have heard many tragic stories about what can happen while towing and hitting a deer.

TV can be fixed. Deer poop can be washed off. Most important thing is that you and DW are OK.

I was going 55 mph, the road is a secondary highway. The truck-trailer combo kept straight and true thru the event. I was glad the air bags didn't go off, although I think a bigger bump would have been required for that.

I didn't even see the deer until it was in front of the truck (I'm guessing about 4 inches away from the bumper). It was pretty big because it's head was above the hood of the truck. I looked at Dave and I was afraid we were going to end up in the ditch, or roll the trailer, or something horrible, but we just kept going straight until it was safe to stop.

When we hit the deer we were heading down a hill with a bridge and river at the bottom of the hill. There was a car stopped on the shoulder of the road before the bridge (2 men and 2 kids with their canoe) and we couldn't safely stop until we were on the other side of the bridge.

It could have been much worse. We are safe and that is the most important thing.

Glad you are both safe. That is a good arguement for a Buck Stop Bumper. They throw them down under the truck rather than letting them take out the lights and grill. At least your radiator was unharmed so you could drive it home.

Yes, I said to the DW afterward, we need to look at getting some bush bars on the front of the truck. It was good the radiator was not harmed, and the RHS bumper had just enough clearance to allow the wheel to turn so we could drive the last half hour to get home. This will be one of those stories to tell for many years. You know, the ones with a happy ending.
