On another note I once again was down in Indiana this week picking up trailers. Dealership near me contacted us regarding bringing Jayco pop-ups back for them. We came up with a good price that worked for us and the customer.

Thanks! And nice looking setup you have there!
One of the easiest runs I ever made was delivering the 5th popup trailer from a load like yours.

I've been reading this thread too. My father in law is thinking of hauling too. He has a CDL and 1 ton Chevy SRW. He's close to retirement and is interested in travel while earning a few bucks.

Where to begin... Delivering RVs is a strange life; it's not for everybody. I did it for about 3 years - '07 thru '09. In '09 my wife and I drove together. The best time was as a 'dedicated driver' with Jayco Transportation (I believe they now out-source all deliveries) in '07 & '08 I'm not sure we really made money, but we had no truck payments and the what we made paid for fuel and maintenance so it was sort of OK.
In '09 the RV business was really down. I had taken late '08 (winter) off, and Jayco had no room to bring us back in early '09. We contracted with another company. They didn't have the loads they said they would, didn't have the 'back hauls' they said, and didn't pay as well as Jayco. We quickly lost our shirt. By about Sept. of '09 we ended our delivery business.
In those 3 years, we racked up roughly 275,000 miles on a new truck, were in every contiguous state in the U.S., and from sea to shining sea in Canada. The kicker is with all that driving, there was little time to sight- see. Most interesting things are not next to the highway (well, except for Cadillac Ranch ).
Are there some mornings when you get up and you just know you are not going to be at the top of your game? When you are 'driving for dollars' as I call it, you check the oil, start the rig, check your tires, & brakes, & turn signals, start your log book entry for the day, and head down the road... even though you are not at the top of your game and you wish that just for today you could sit in a office chair and not stare at the highway.

Don't know if I will last 40 years on the road or not lol! I originally was going to get into OTR trucking for a bigger company but the more I asked around and found out how little control I would have over my home time the more I researched doing it my way instead.
What sucks about this time of year is it's mainly only cars (pic # 1) moving in the corridor I travel, money is not as good as boats, motorcylces, etc. But I still get to see some awesome sights like pic # 2 of a small covered bridge on the Kingston Peninsula in New Brunswick.

On way to Florida via Toronto, Pittsburgh, Fredericksburg VA. Nice change of scenery from the miserable winter we have had this year.

At least at the end of this trip you will actually get to see some roads and scenery that is not White.

I'm a little late to the game since I just discovered this thread, and spent the last two days reading all of the posts! It really is a small world, greenenvy, since I live about 5 minutes away from the big RV dealer in Winnipeg that you used to deliver to, and I drive by it quite regularly. I've probably even seen some of the units you've delivered there in the past years.
Anyway, keep safe and thanks for the amazing read!

Thanks, small world indeed!
My buddy use to live in Whitemouth about an hour northeast of that dealer. Every trip out I would run to his place for a visit.
Back from Florida, i sure did not miss the snow!
notice how salty my equipment is as I left Canada....
and once in Florida and saw some crazy rain...

I especially liked the one with the TT and a boat.
Also, I noticed the 'Crew Cab Sleeper' type extensions to replace the backseat windows. I still have mine for my Ford... just in case.

Go hard is it to load the trailers on and off you trailer?
