I see my hygienist every 9 because that's what the insurance will cover. I avoid the dentist as much as possible, he's the one with drill...

As much as I HATE going to the Dentist.. Yea... the whole family does.

Dental fear (also called dental phobia, odontophobia, dentophobia, dentist phobia, and dental anxiety) is the fear of dentistry and of receiving dental care. However, it has been suggested that use of the term dental phobia should not be used for people who do not feel that their fears are excessive or unreasonable, and instead resemble individuals with post-traumatic stress disorder, caused by previous traumatic dental experiences.[1]

My insurance covers dental routine visits every 6 months. Me and my family have never missed a visit since 1961. I think it is a good investment.

Our insurance doesn't cover dental but we go every 6 months. We think it is a good investment.

There must be a good reason for discussing our dental care on an RV site, but maybe someone can tell me what it is...?

My insurance only covers once a year so that is when I go unless there is a problem

You'll notice that this is under Campfire Chat. So while not directly related to RVing, it is a place for members to post about various things and chat.. Gives the pulse of the community as it were... And sometimes makes for some very interesting and funny posts... And it makes all of us more of a community....

I have to answer no, bit I go about every 3 months. Insurance pays for every 6 months. Bad oral care, can lead to serious health issues. I have not had a new filling since I started going often. Love the way my teeth feel afterwords.

I have never had dental insurance so I just suck it up and pay or it, but twice a year is my routine since college. I'm now 69 and still have all of my own teeth and zero root canals. A few crowns, but all else is good.

I have the "pleasure" [/sarcasm] to go every 4 months, alternating between the Dentist and Orthodontist. At least insurance (minus deductible) covers all the visits.

I go every 3 months for a cleaning. It's covered by insurance.

I don't have dental insurance, but I still go every 6 months now. I went a LONG time without going at all. Then DW finally made me go, and I had gum disease.

It used to hurt so bad going to the dentist, but now that I've been treated, it's not bad at all. I get a deep cleaning twice a year (down from 4x per year) and I almost fall asleep in the chair every time now. Doesn't hurt at all. My hygienist is super impressed with how my teeth and gums have healed. I still hate getting fillings, but that's pretty rare now.

It is important to take care of your teeth, your oral health affects much of the rest of your body. And as far as discussing it on an RV forum, I'm often curious how full-timers deal with things like this. For me it's easy, my dentist is right down the street, and I know him personally. For full-timers, I would think even that simple stuff would become much more complicated.

My company benefit plan pays 80%, so I go every six months. It's much better now that I found a dentist who I like and it doesn't hurt -- not like my old dentist who caused more damage than he fixed, it seems. Plus, it helps that the dental hygienists there are pretty.

Wow! That's great. It's very unusual for insurance to pay for more than once every 6 months.
