Seems like these threads are creating work for the moderators.

Just my 2 cents.

Around here most of the polling places are at school, most schools are closed now on Tuesday because of the fear of violence? I had Labor Day off and found out I now have to work Thanksgiving. Holidays only seem to apply to government

We used to have a state law that mandated all liquor stores close on election day.

Absolutely! Voting is one of greatest gifts of living in a free country! Given the dismal voting rates in the this country, maybe it would encourage some of the disaffected people to get out there and make their voice heard.

No, I don't feel that Election Day should be a national holiday.

However, a National Day of Rest after all the HOOPLA that leads up to the official day may be in order...

I voted last week via mail, a day off just to watch the news seems fine if you live in France.

The work day is long over before the votes are tailed. Who knows, we might not have a clear winner until Xmas. Remember the 'hanging chads' in Florida?

Personally, I don't think that anybody that doesn't take the time to study and understand the issues should be voting.
