As stated in the video, this was insane. I guess the driver now has bragging rights, but other than that, what was the point here ? Do we all gain something from this event ?

I remember a few months ago when they started talking about doing this in Diesel Power magazine. I'm sure part of it was just to see "what would happen" but the other part of it, or so they said, was to study aerodynamics and how engine mods on a diesel hold up to high stress situations while towing. Personally, I think it was done simply because they could.

I did tow my PU three laps around the track at Watkins Glen a few years ago. I did NOT drive fast.

I remember Bobby Allison pulling a stunt like that once, probably in the late 70's or early 80's. I can't remember where or what kind of trailer. Age has a way of making us forget important stuff like that!
