I've tried a bunch of different disposables and finally bought a Merkur open comb safety razor. ~$40. Regular old fashion double edge blades are a lot cheaper and after several years I got my first nick the other day. My fault I was rushing.

I used to shave with a disposable razor every 3 days or so. But this past Christmas, my mother bought me the "lawn mower" electric shaver...yes the one that the commercial shows to use for your "special" places. I haven't used it for any of my "special" places yet, but I do use it once a week for my face and I've been very happy with it!

I still shave with a single blade razor my dad gave me back in the 70's. I use a brush and shave soap.

I'm with you...I don't ever see me using it down there, but it works great on my face! The DW keeps threatening to use it on my back...so there's that!

Started growing a beard (if you can call it that) the day I graduated from high school. I cultivated it for 26 years, but had to shave it off for my "second career", that lasted 20 more years. I used one of those Mach 3 razors that took a AAA battery, and vibrated. Have an electric for the mornings I was running a little late.

When I retired the DW said to grow it back, so just to keep her happy I did just that. I'm still trying to figure out why it came in all gray!

Until retiring a few years ago, it was the trusty Mach 3 blade razor every day. Now it’s used about once a week to clean up around the beard. Those blades will last forever!

That's a good thing 'cause they're expensive now. Just have to get a new use for the cans of shaving gel I have left. I may have to give them to someone that still likes to shave.

I started using an electric when in college since it was faster for me. Through the years I kept on with various electric brands/models as they would wear out and settled on Braun about 25 years ago. I used to have two when I was still working in case one died. Both of those lasted over 10 years and I picked up a Braun Series 8 last year (only one since I'm retired now) and I have to say it is better than both of the 10+ year models.

I have only shaved with a blade once in the past 50+ years. It was a brand new blade and it literally felt like every single hair was being pulled out by the root. Never again. My face was sore for days.

I'm just the opposite. Tried an electric shaver once. Never again. I love the feel of cold, hard steel on my face.

Same. Electric shavers just yank the hair out. Straight razor is the only way I don’t get shave bumps.

I tried a Norelco triple floating head electric shaver about 40 years ago and IMHO didn't get a close enough shave. Been shaving with a blade ever since.

My favorite electric shaver I tried years ago was a Sunbeam. Don't think they are made anymore. I've switched to Dollar Shave Club awhile back. I set the delivery schedule and if I don't need anything, I can delay or skip a shipment. Costs me about a buck a blade and gives me a good close shave.

So I’ll start this poll, which do you prefer?
1- dollar shave club and shave butter is what I use now.... pro blade and handle... delivery every 2-4 months.... 20 bucks......

I was doing norelco triple head..... but as the beard got tougher with a few more miles on the man. the norelco started tugging which was annoying but we toughed thru it.... and then wearing thru with no warning, just a blood trail. as it shaves off a few layers of skin..... replacement heads are $$$ just replace the unit....

When new they do give a good shave..... 2 months in not as good but pass..... 4 - 6 months DANGER DANGER DANGER Warning Will Robinson...... .....

PS a lot depends on your beard.... as to how long they last.....

Once I went full-time with a beard about 15 yrs ago I gave up the Braun/Norelco electrics because of the difficulty of keeping clean lines. They worked okay, especially with Lectra Shave. I tried one of the old Panasonic wet electric shavers that didn’t work at all. I’ve finally regressed to an antique “safety” razor with Wilkinson blades and shaving cup and brush. I can keep my lines neater partially because shaving soap is not as opaque as anything in a can. I also don’t get ingrown hairs like the double/triple/nth blade razors and the double edge blades are MUCH cheaper..

Mach 3 razors. I've been using them for a very long time. I tried other ones and I did not like them. I also tried a Remington Electric razor back in my 20s. I found it clunky to use and it was not that good of a shave.
