Family camping issue

When I was younger my family always camped with my cousins'. As we got older we drifted apart for a while and then started camping with our children together. In the last couple years I have pushed for more camping time and we've went from a 3 day weekend to a 4 day weekend to 5 days. This year I booked the sites and my family wanted a full week. The 3 other families couldn't do that but each took 4 or 5 days and I found 4 sites together using their dates.

As we get closer to the dates I find out one of my cousins' may have to gfo overseas for work. They are in the middle of the 4 sites. My sister also has a conflict and she is in the middle as well.

My dilemma - my cousin (who is on the far end of the 4 sites) and I still plan to camp. What do I do about the 2 middle sites?

  • I could shift my cousin down and return the 2 sites we don't need.
  • I could try and find family to take the 2 sites that are in question
  • I could let strangers stay between my cousin and I

What should I do?

Keep all 4 sites and throw a shindig there in the middle!

Thought about that since I have a 21 year old. He could take at least one site with his friends. I'd need to eat the cost of that site though

I would try and find someone to fill these in and if I could not find someone in time I would shift spots so there was not someone else in the middle as you never know who you my get in the middle.

If it is a busy weekend or busy campground, it would be polite to move together and give up the other two sites. Some campgrounds have a policy that if there is not a trailer in the site by a certain time, you forfeit your reservation and they will give it to someone else (and still charge you for at least part of it).

'I could shift my cousin down and return the 2 sites we don't need.' gets my vote. If you're camping with family it's alot more fun being next to them.
