I install my own vent in the newer jugs. It can be just a drilled hole with a plug, or something more fancy like a tire valve stem with the schrader valve removed and the screw-on cap in place.

The nice thing about the E-Z Pour that was posted earlier is, it comes with a plug for a vent. Drill a 1/2" hole with a spade bit and you are good to go. I had a couple cans with these new spouts on them. Gave up on trying to use them. I bought the E-Z Pour and installed the vents and they are great now. I was even able to resurrect one of my old cans that the spout had broken on and rendered it all but useless because you couldn't seal it. The E-Z Pourfit it and now it is a great can again. I'm up to 3. I have one of the Chilton's that was posted earlier, unfortunately its spout has broken and the E-Z Pour won't fit it.

I have a thing called a Han-D Pump. It was also great. It was a siphon that screwed on to the can with a fuel line and then a "handle" at the end that went in to the tank of water you were filling. Just raise and lower the handle on the siphon that was located on the tank. It would pump the gas or diesel rather quickly. Didn't have to old the can or be higher than the fill spout or anything. I used it so much I wore the internal washers out and now it leaks pretty bad. I should take it apart and "rebuild" it. Too bad that this was banned as well. For $12 at TSC it worked great.

This is the same thing as the Han-D pump that I was talking about. http://www.amazon.com/Lubrimatic-550...09713&sr=1-159

I just ordered me 3 of them since they were so cheap and the shipping charge didn't change. I figure that should keep me in business for awhile since I now have a 12-volt pump for diesel fuel.

Seems to me if enough of us complained to our Congressmen and Senators about these unelected regulators issuing these regulations that are in fact UN-safe, we might at least get them involved in future decisions. Maybe we could head off some of the more bizarre contraptions they think up.

I'm hanging on to my old metal can with both hands! Another example of an out-of-control federal government.
