Had to say Goodbye to a friend today

Had to put our dog to sleep today. He was 13 years and 2 month old. We had him for 13 years. He was part Chow and German shepard. He was having problems getting up and walking. This came on very sudden. He is in a better place now. Yesterday he started looking at the wife and me very funny and I knew that something was up. Today he started looking at us very funny again and when the wife gave him a milk bone and he gave it back to the wife we knew something was wrong. The more I think about it, when he was looking at me I could swear that he was trying to tell me that it was time to go to heaven. We will miss him dearly. He was a good dog

I had to put down my 14.5 year old Husky. It’s like losing a child and it leaves a hole. You made the decision that was right for him , it’s never easy losing a friend.

Having to say goodbye to such trusted companions is the toughest thing to do. And it's true, they tell you when it's time, but their time here is so short. I feel your pain. I had to put my pup to sleep 3-1/2 years ago, and not a week goes by, that I don't think of her and really miss her.

When you're feeling down, here is what I refer to. I can't wait for my chance to cross the Rainbow Bridge, and be united again...

Sorry to hear that. But better to suffer the loss than to never have had their love.

Sorry for your loss. You made me reminisce about all the times in our 40 year marriage that we have grieved over good and faithful dog companions. They always give and keep us on an even keel. Everyone was so worth it!

Sorry for your loss. Our pets give us such unconditional love. It’s so wonderful to have them in our lives. We had to put down one of our best friends a couple years back and it was tough. I wanted to grieve a little longer than the rest of the family before we got a new dog but now I love our new one too. Looks like my heart has plenty of room for unconditional love. One day you might have the room too.

Thank you everybody for those kind words. Since being in Az from 1978 we have had 6 dogs. 5 of those 6 dogs we had to have them put to sleep, One of them had a heart attsck. I will tell you that it doesn't get any easier. I don't care what anybody says. Again thank you for the kind words.
