We are caring for my mother who has dementia. She and my father have been living with us now for the last 8 years. She hasn't been able to speak or communicate for the last 3 years and she relies on one of us to feed her, change, her, etc. It's a very tough thing to have to face, but it is part of life. My parents also traveled up until she was physically unable to. The last couple of years, we have a handicap van and we still take her as many places as we can.
Keep your chin up. These days are hard for me also.
Getting ready to take my wife and kids out for lunch. She deserves a pat on the back also. Nobody signs on when you are young to be taking care of your mother-in-law along with your kids at this point in your life. She hasn't complained once.
