I'm impressed at how evenly spread out the membership here is.
I voted 1-3 years for the time I have been RVing with my family but did not count the 15 or so years I went with my parents or the years of tent camping with the Boy Scouts or the "camping" I did in the Army.

I didn't count all the years I went with my family when I was growing up, but we had a TT that my parents brought with them when they moved to Texas from Michigan in 1980. We had that thing until about 1994 or so. Kept it parked at a CG on Lake Livingston for many years. By the time I was a teenager it was kept in storage and only brought out occasionally. I was MUCH more into back-country camping when I got into junior high, so the TT didn't get much use in favor of the Kelty, the North Face, and the Eureka.
I just bought my own TT last September and I'm already addicted to the lifestyle! Sometimes it feels like I have to drag DW kicking and screaming (she's complaining less lately as her fear subsides) but she sure kicks and screams A LOT less than when we were backpacking!
I don't think I ever want to be without some kind of RV. Right now it's a Travel Trailer, later it might be a MH or 5er. Whatever it is, you can be sure I'll be out there!

We started camping in tents not long after getting married going on 34 years ago.
As the 'kid count' increased, tent camping was proving to become more and more impractical and more work (i.e. less fun for dad). We were able try pop-up camping by borrowing a pop-up camper from some friends a few times and that's where it all began. We bought our own pop-up a few years later in 2000, upgraded to a Jay Feather LGT in 2004 and got our new Eagle 284 BHS about a year ago.

Started in a tent....to a pop-up...to a 3 bunk hybrid..to our current 26BH...next one will probably be a 5th wheel for retirement.

I'm curious, I would assume starting from the 15 to 20 and up option, its a lifestyle choice. I wonder what the age ranges of the members at 10 to 15 and less are. If they are just starting out in adult life, or young adults compared to us older crowd that have been camping ever since being inside the womb.

I didn't respond the same way. I didn't count my childhood, only since we purchased our own first RV.
My wife and I have been RVing 15-20 years in RV's we've purchased, that was my poll response.
However camping with the family in mom and dad's camper and I'd have to go 45+ years.

First RV bought in 2009. Tent camping before that.
I decided that I had to have a hot shower and flush toilet. SWMBO still thinks dragging a trailer is overkill.

Picked up a 1973 Scamper Camper slide in in spring of '01. It was a 9'6" model. Bought a 10' 1976 Vanguard a few years later. In 07 the campers were totalled by a drunk roofer at 1:45AM. Bought an '0 Northern Lite slide in Camper in'08 and the 28BHBE in Aug 14. It has been an adventure most every trip and we have enjoyed them all. The RV'S and the adventures.
Happy Camping

Started with a tent back in the mid 80's, till DW got cold wet feet on one trip. Mored up to a genltly well used 20 ft HiLo about 92. Loved that TT! Got a 84 Dutchmen fiver about 2004. Now have a 2008 Eagle Super Lite 30.5 RLS, purchased July 2014. Great deal, the unit looked like it just came off of the showroom floor. Been love ever since.

Took my first trip in 1963. I was only 17 and never been out of Florida. My sister and her husband and kids lived in Chicago and were school teachers. They bought a 21 foot brand new Holiday Rambler and were pulling it with a 6 cylinder Chevy wagon. They invited me to go along and be their baby sitter when they wanted some alone time. I jumped at the chance. We left Chicago and went through the locks at Michigan, visited Mackinaw Island, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Canada and just all over for two months. Greatest trip I ever had and definitely enabled me to be a camper. Took a while but after Viet Nam and marriage, we bought our first unit, a 23 foot Terry Camper. I have been camping in Trailer, Pop ups, and now 5th wheelers. At my brother in laws funeral 2 years ago, I told everyone of my first camping trip with them and how they started me on my adventures. Still going strong almost 50 years later.

I voted in this poll when it was first created as a newbie! Now I'm a couple months into my third year with my own RV. We did it when I was a kid, and I tent camped A LOT back then. Now I can't wait to take my son out and pitch a tent. But that will have to wait a couple years until he's old enough for just the two of us to go out. DW will NEVER sleep in a tent again. But she has volunteered to keep the TT nice and warm/cool if we need to come "home"!
I will say that this family will most likely never be without some kind of RV again. We still plan to keep our 28BHBE until my son loses interest (he's 14 months, so we have a while to go!), and it continues to exceed our needs perfectly. When the boy gets to that age, we'll probably sell the trailer and move into a Class C (DW thinks she wants one, I'm thinking a smaller TT or perhaps a small 5er, so we will see).
