Not often, because I don't believe most of it.
Even when local news reports on a local issue that I know intimately, they usually get the story wrong. So how can I believe them to report accurately about all those stories I really don't know much about?

Is there a good source for real news?
The networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox) have turned into "Access Hollywood" type reporting. Very little actual news stories there and what we get is biased. Each seems to have their own agenda they are pushing.

The Cable News (CNN, MSNBC, MSN, etc) are no better and all seem to have picked a side and only report stories that enforce their agenda.

ABC seems to have a lock on having anchors that served immediately to past Presidents (Diane Sawyer - Pres. Nixon; George Stephanopolis - Pres. Clinton) so I don't consider anything they say to be unbiased.

Fox seems to be clearly in one political party's camp, so they are biased in my opinion.

PBS takes money from many foundations and causes which clearly influences what they report on, and how they report on it.

Then there are the bozo's like NBC's Brian Williams who just make up stuff to bolster their own image.

Newspapers seem to do little investigative reporting these days and the papers we used to rely on (Washington Post, NY Times, etc.) don't seem reliable anymore.

Even our local TV news anchors focus their reporting about what's on TV, what's the latest craze, and spend a great deal of time asking viewers to post comments on facebook and then report on what was said - as if that was "news."

Accurate news died with Walter Cronkite and Huntley & Brinkley.

Now it is all ratings-based scripting.

BBC

IMO, US network television 'news' has gone down hill ever since those programs changed from a public service to making money for the network.

While I trust FOX News as far as I can spit upwind in a stiff breeze, they did recently put out this interesting article that is relevant to this thread.

Not sure what you are referring to with NPR. Are you saying they are a good news program? I heartily disagree.

In my opinion, they are equally or even more biased than the networks.
As I said, they take money from all sorts of foundations that push various agendas. At least sometimes NPR is honest enough acknowledge this at the beginning of their newscasts.

I heartily disagree with your disagreement, literally the ONLY intelligent and thoughtful reporting I have heard in the US is from NPR.

Regardless of where this thread is going, I think the OP is referring to "news" sources which post either completely fake news or a mixture of fact-based and fake news. It seems like most of this content is published via Facebook, with notable exceptions like Breitbart.com.

I cannot remember getting fooled by any fake news, but I do not use Facebook or very much social media.

NPR is nothing but a bunch of left wing hacks with an agenda.

All public funding for NPR and PBS should end.
