Hurricane/Tropical Storm - Maplesville, AL

A lot of this won't mean much to those not in this area, but Maplesville is approx 60 miles south of Birmingham, AL just west of I-65. I spent part of the night with a friend a half mile from my home base site.

I'm back at my place and no obvious damage, but an oak limb just missed my 5th. wheel. Lots of limbs down all around. Power is off everywhere I can see. County Road 10 is blocked between Maple Dr. and Hwy 22. Power lines down across Maple Dr at CR 10. Reed Street blocked by tree between Hwy 22 and Maple Dr. Power lines down on Maple Dr between Shanks Dr and Loper Ln. Lines down on Hwy 22 at Shanks Dr.
That is all I have seen. I just fired up my generator and thinking about a cup of coffee.

Great that you had no major damage. The La coast has had their share and much more this season.
I was thinking last night of all the members we have in Zeta's path.

Just waking up in the mountains outside Cherokee NC, after a wet night, but not a lot of wind,, as Zeta makes it way inland
. There are flash flood warnings in effect, and the creek outside the window is a lot deeper than it was when we turned in, but no sign of damage

Hoping all are safe on the Gulf Coast

Glad your good Ed. Headed to LA this morning, as I’ve been deployed to help where we can. Stay safe everyone!

Bummer. My daughter was deployed there for the last set of storms. She was home in Connecticut for two weeks and sent back to LA two days ago. She probably will miss her 50th birthday and Thanksgiving. Plus she had two months on Covid duty in NYC EMS

Enough is enough.

From those of us tucked up nice and warm at home, or, in our case, snug and safe in a mountain campground, a huge Thank You to your daughter and all the others who are out there keeping us safe.

Yes thank you for the reminder to look at the other half of the glass!

I can't wait to give the boot to 2020 but our little TT has still given us good times this year.

We will be getting Zeta though.. Two faced thing: we are getting snow.

We were lucky in south central AL. No power outages, 40 mph winds and only a half inch of rain. Minor cleanup and good riddance to Zeta.

There are definitely benefits to living in an RV full time. 28 hours now since the storm took our electricity away and I'm sitting here drinking a cup of hot coffee watching last night's news on the TV. My built in generator is worth every penny.
The power company told us yesterday it could be 4 days before power is restored since they had a full 1/3 of their customers without power. There was a lot of cleanup going on around here yesterday, cutting trees off of roads, etc. but zero power line maintenance. We have to wait out turn and we are just a little place.

We had winds gusting to around 60 here. My little 21' trailer made it fine, but it sure made this old guy nervous for several hours.

Kim, I don’t think your daughter will be there very long! I drove their yesterday, worked 4 hours last night, and drove home today.

I certainly hope you are right. I see an Eta though. With the rotten luck LA has had it's probably in the bullseye again

Thanks for your good news!

It's 2020. You know there has to be one more storm, just to break the record.

24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case. Coincidence? I think not.
