I'd Rather be Camping

A great fall day....70 degrees and a blue sky. It would be nice to spend it camping, in the Jayco or in a tent, but instead I am dealing with the downside of Fall.

We just returned home from a 3 night weekend with our club. Beautiful camping weather down South. The leaves can wait till March and blow away!

Question about the Cyclone Rake. Will it pick up items other then leaves such as gumballs, pine cones, small sticks etc. or will they clog the hose? I`ve entertained the thought of getting one but I have so much more then just leaves here and wondered how effective it would be........BTW it was nice here too but have been doing Scout stuff all weekend, including one of my sons getting the Aviation badge which includes taking over control of a plane in flight (cool!). 10 Scouts earned that badge today from our Troop.

What a coincidence, I also have a cyclone rake. It does a great job on most anything. It will pick up pine cones and gum balls and chop them as well as leaves, small twigs etc. Mine does not stop up but it is rough on the mower blade cause it pre-chops it before going thru the Cyclone rake.

I usually pick up the bigger cones and twigs. It reduces the volume of what I pick up by over half.

Only use it 2 or 3 times a year.

Crabman, it will pick up most anything that is natural. I am in my 8th season with my Cyclone Rake. Mine was one of the smaller ones because my original mower was a 12.5 hp Murray. I upgraded to a 26 hp model in '08.

About 3 years ago I caught a rock, (one of many) just right and cracked the blower housing which is really a tough unit. I bought a new one and was surprised that the company was very reasonable on the cost. They could have charged alot more for the part which included a new engine mount, impeller and related parts.

These are very well made pieces of equipment. I have only clogged the line a few times, never when used with the mower. The clogs only occurred when using the long extension hose for sucking up junk in accessible by the mower.

The worst part about it is the dust and emptying it. It never fails when you have just a small section left, it will be full and you have to empty it two more times!

Good deal on the 10 scouts earning the Aviation badge, that is awesome.

Thanks for the info, Boss Wagon. That sounds like a worthwhile investment. Now if I only had the spare cash.............
