International Space Station

We're camping the other weekend, and I was out enjoying the fire and doing a bit of stargazing. It's nice to get away from the noise and light pollution of the city and see what there is to see. I'm not much of an astronomer, but I can identify a few things up there. This was no different, and I picked out Jupiter, Mars and what might have been Saturn, and -- WHAT THE HECK IS THAT?!? It was a light, about as bright as one of the planets, but moving in a straight line from south to east. I pulled out my phone and started up the free astronomy app that I have on there, and it tells me that it's the ISS. I didn't have time to go and get my good camera, but here's a crappy cell phone video of what I saw. Kind of cool.

It is awesome to see. The other one to see is an iradum flare.

I downloaded the Sky View App(free) on my phone over a year ago and it made me an instant astronomer. we sit around the fire and I can id anything the camera can see.

I have really enjoyed and impressed a good many friends.

Go to LIVE REAL TIME SATELLITE TRACKING AND PREDICTIONS and you can see where the ISS is at any time and they also have an alert tool that will notify you when a visible pass is about to come over your location.
