Is it crazy That I Enjoy Towing?

Went on a little weekender with the family this weekend. About 200 miles round trip. I have found that I am really starting to enjoy towing. When we parked the tt I really missed seeing that big lug in my rearviews. My first couple of trips with it last year were white knuckle, now I am more relaxed and enjoy the challenge. I like snaking it through intersections of towns and attacking the rolling hills and curves hear in Western PA. Is this crazy? Do you all like towing too? I will say this: my new towing mirrors (McKesh) have done loads for my confidence. These mirrors are in a word - AWESOME. I added the blind spot mirrors and can see everything I need to now.Highly recommend them to anyone. A little pricey, but I kept telling my wife this weeked, worth every penny.

I pulled a pop-up for fourteen years and my current TT for eleven using four different TVs (two gassers and two diesels). If I'm not comfortable with towing by now, I'll never be.

Like the OP, I also had the McKesh mirrors. They were worth every penny and I also had the optional round convex mirrors. When I bought the 09 GMC, it was equipped with the extendable trailering mirrors so I no longer needed the McKesh. The only negative I ever had about the McKesh mirrors was the fact that they do not break away, and if they hit something (or something hits them), there's a good chance that you're going to be visiting a body shop.

I kept the McKesh mirrors as a spare/backup mirror just in case I ever get "de-mirrored"- and trucks do get their mirrors broken; whether it be from an encounter with another vehicle's mirror, hitting an object with them (like a street sign, telephone, etc) or some other incident). A spare mirror can be a lifesaver until you can get the damaged one repaired or replaced.

If you think you are crazy for loving towing, you have found the asylum and the inmates here are good company.

Watch out for the nurse...

You have a very good point about the breakaway feature. I can see if I hit something with those mirrors, I would have a nice dent to deal with where the contact pad meets the door. I will need to be extra careful. Oh well, still worth the risk to be able to see behind me.

I enjoy towing as well, but with an older truck I worry about mechanical breakdown. I think that my 6.0 is one of the good ones, but it takes intense maintenance to keep it that way. Wish I could afford a NEW truck, then I would completely love towing.

Bought my fw last year and took a short trip to get used to things(3500 miles) and am planning a trip to see grandchildren this summer(5500 miles). I guess you could say I don't mind towing for distances.

I definitely love towing! Don prefers to kick back in the passenger seat, so I do probably 99% of the driving. One year, I towed the whole distance from west to east coast. I love hitting the open road pulling a tt anywhere as long as it's camping!

I love pulling a trailer, before we purchased our first tt we had a pro gas dragcar and towed it 400 miles every summer weekend. I miss that old 80 GMC with a 427 4 speed 410 geared propane sucking beast. That old truck averaged 11 mpg towing 6000 pounds. I used to complain about that 50 cent a gal propane motor fuel.
