My draft lottery was #64 in 1969, but I got around that by enlisting. Would that be called a "win" ? At least enlisting allowed me to pick my MOS of choice, sort of.

I'd call that one a win tinlizzie and thank you for your service. That lottery ended before I came of age.

Just remember - you have to play to win....

as the story goes there was this camper sitting on tree stump drinking his good ole fresh made bean coffee and an angel appeared and told him it was in the works for him to win the lottery. He waited and waited and nothing happened... Then about a year later the same angel appeared to him again and he said its been over a year and I still have seen any lottery yet. The angel said "you have to play first dim wit!!!"

I enlisted too, but it was after I received my draft notice. My 74F, computer programmer, MOS made a lot better use of my skills than the 11B, Infantry, I would have been assigned had I been drafted.

Thanks for your service, FPM III.

I agree, enlisting for a job you either know, or want to know, made a lot more sense than being a college graduate ground pounder. I enlisted for med lab 92B, but ended up a medic because the Army needed them badly.
