I've been trying to win the Lotto since the 70's, and it hasn't happened yet.

I used to work with a guy who said you stand about the same chance with or without a ticket, but he bought one each week because "You can by a dream for a dollar". Imagine being able to travel in any vehicle you wanted and not have to consider expenses. To me, that's a nice dream.

That said, I've been told I'm a very utililitarian person. I am, and I'm comfortable with that. If I did win the Lotto, I'd probably still get my next pair of jeans at Kmart. But then I'd start shopping for a new Jayco - and it would be a dandy. And it wouldn't stop very often except at the most desirable places.

I wonder where you would go if you won the Lotto, and what you would be travelling in.

I would hope I wouldn't change my lifestyle too much but money does change things a lot

I run a pool at work. I collect money from everyone once a year and I prepay the entire year. We play $10 each drawing with 104 drawings a year. That amounts to us paying $1,040 for the entire year. Last year we won a grand total of $87. lol

For what it's worth, I vaguely know a family that won over $160 million a few years back. I know more of them then I know them. Must be nice. lol

I would take a leave of absence from work and I wouldn't be seen from or heard from in a year. Most of my time would be spent camping in my new MH in Yellowstone NP and Zion NP. I don't think that's too much to ask for, is it? Happy Camping!!

A guy at work once won $4.5 million in the Virginia Lottery. He bought the ticket on a training assignment while out of town. He worked awhile before he retired. I was reissued his brief case after he left.

That's my lottery claim to fame...a reissued cheap brief case!

No, it's not. It's a great plan and I hope it happens for you. I see you're from Michigan. My plan would include plenty of summer time on the UP. When I was on the west side it would be fresh perch or walleye from Lake Gogebic, and on the east side many meals would come from the Fish House in Paradise, MI.

Chances of winning without a ticket 0 (no matter what those emails say) Chances of winning with a ticket 0.00000001... but for a buck or two... its ok your chances dont increase much when you buy more tickets... but to me it is still cheaper than smoking or drinking.

Sure seems strange that there are often no winners even on the bigger wins with so many tickets sold. Or the'll be only one or two winners tops. I know it can't be rigged because its the way the balls fall right. ya right. I limit mine to ten bucks week.

In the 38 1/2 years I've lived in Michigan, I have never been west of Baraga County. I hear many great things and see many beautiful pictures of all points west and north of Baraga, and before I get to Wyoming and Utah, I will spend time in the western upper peninsula; namely the Porcupine Mountains. I see you are from southwest Ohio--I also plan a trip in the not too distant future to the Hocking Hills area. I have heard it's fantastic.

Money can't buy you happiness, but it can make you more comfortable.
I would probably set up a trust fund to try and use most of the money to help others in a perpetual way.
Maybe a jobs training program partnering with local companies, maybe computer lab teaching skill sets to get a job, etc.
I probably would travel a little bit, but never buy a home, boat or car that was extravagant.

If you`ve ever seen that show "Curse of the Lottery" its unreal how that much money actually led to the ruin of many lives, in a few years they were worse off then before they won the lottery. The big mistake comes when they just go out and start buying lavish things, without realizing the long term costs associated with those items long after the purchase. Eventually the money runs out and the stuff has to be sold off.

As for the odds, during that last big powerball deal one guy put the odds of winning in perspective we can understand besides using large numbers. If you placed a line of pennies from the east coast to the west, with one penny having an X marked on the underside, driving in a car you would have to randomly stop along the route and pick up the penny with the X to equal the odds of winning that powerball.

Guess I'll have to go against the grain here again. Like Crabman said, winning the lottery sometimes ruins lives instead of enhancing them. When I think about all the money I could have wasted over the years playing it, I feel much better having used that money occasionally to help out someone in real need. I would much rather give a helping hand to a person in financial trouble than to give it to the State and have it spent on some politician's stupid idea. So please allow me to be just a little bit proud that in 64 years I've never spent one cent on any lottery, and never will.

Great question and what a perfect "fun" opportunity for members to share a dream of where/how to travel if winning the Lotto!

I would revisit area's within the United States that have been enjoyable for us from previous visits. I would try to spend some time in others that we have yet to visit. I would do this with our Jayco (which would be a new model which would be towed with a new TV!).

I would definitely continue traveling out of the country to see places I would otherwise only read about in books. I would travel by cruise ship or plane to this places. Probably woudn't rent an rv when 'there', but would definitely use the trasportation used by the 'locals'.

IF I played and won I suppose I would also like to take off in a new Jayco Pinnacle and new TV and see the country without having to worry about how to pay for it or having to get back home to work! I would also still take a pay cut and moderate the forum for free. AND buy everyone a new JOF sticker.
