Anyway, instead of attempting to drill them out or use an EZ-Out, I just build up a layers on top of the broken stud with the welder and either then twist it out with a pair of channel locks or weld a nut on top if it doesn't want to turn out easily.

I'm hoping the Midas fella was exaggerating (I follow his logic, though) and was just going after moh money. My local mechanic I trust and hope he'll give me a much lower quote.

Just came home from a 5 day outing. A couple of days of rain, only two cars pulled out in front of us, and I was able to miss the three dead porcupines in the middle of the road. You really don't want to brush one of those with a tire. I have that T-shirt.

Well, I'd be cruising, but found out I have spacers in my wheels. The tires are fairly wide and I thought that was why it looked like it does, but instead it's the combined wide tires with 2" spacers. So the spacers are coming off. Now the lug nuts are not happy and I have to replace them. Ouch! $3.49 ea. X 32!

I'm amazed at just how nice most of I80 is across several states. Sure it has it rough spots, but for the most part, a real good road for traveling 100's and 100's of miles on.
I drove to pick up my used truck, 6 hours there & back, and I'm like, wow, isn't it wonderful to have such good roads around here. Michigan, though, is lacking in the quality of roads that many other states have around us. And there is a good stretch in Illinois on I80 that is just the pits, but beyond that the road is fantastic.
I tell the kids from time to time while traveling to think about the men and women who put in the labor to make these roads possible and all the work it went into it including the scouting and engineering from many years ago. Especially those mountain passes and tunnels and bridges. Just think of how limited in travel we all would be had we not have the kind of infrastructure we have today. No doubt, there are some bad times when people lost some of their land for the roads we enjoy today, and that totally sucks. I'm sure it wasn't all good and for that I feel sad for the people that it effected.

I had the same thought about I-90 across New York. We towed the trailer across it from Erie to Syracuse last week and other than the toll booth construction in Erie, it was perfect. So much better than the roads in PA.

Making progress on the 2010 Dodge. Going to have the transmission and rear diff serviced and get the manifold gaskets replaced as well. Can you say $$$!!! Waiting on rotors and brakes for the front; had to order. Were supposed to be in today and I would have had them done today, but there was some mess up and I won't get the rotors until Friday. Hopefully I can get the parts in the morning and get the job done before we leave for out of town in the afternoon.

Super good progress on the truck, cuz I know you want to know.
Got the rotors and pads done today. Seems to me someone changed the pads, but the rotors were not turned nor replaced and they needed to be replaced. And there was a stuck pin but was able to get it undone. Cleaned and lubed everything and ready to go. Burnish the brakes and ready to go camping!
While in there, sprayed some liquid wrench on the bolts for the bearings. They don't need replaced, yet.

Beautiful morning here at the campground enjoying coffee with family. Sunny clear blue skies at around 50°f in NE Indiana. High of 85°f according to the weather guessers.
Grab a cup of Joe and have a wonderful day. Donuts available, too. Help yourself. Enjoy!

Had some slow moving boomers last night. Lots of lightning lighting up the clouds. Haven't heard a good slow moving thunder storm in a very long time. Most times there go through so quickly.
Soggy morning though. A/C isn't working in part of the house and cool stuff from the fridge condensates like crazy. On the bright side, I'm not spending $$ on running the A/C. ;o)
Truck went in for the trans/rear diff services this morning. Hoping they don't find anything wrong with either. I assume the rear diff cover may need replacing; it's rusted up something terrible.
Daughter just announced that they want to get married in Colorado; it's only 16 hours away! Could fly, but won't.
Hope you all are having a great week!

Congrats on the wedding! As for rain, we have forgotten what that is. Isn’t that the wet stuff that falls from the sky? For us, our “overcast” is heavy smoke. But only 108* today and 109* tomorrow... Send us your storms, please!
