Log Book/Travel Log. Who Keeps One?

Do you keep a log book/travel log and if so, how detailed is it? Do you keep one online, a journal, a binder...?

I started one when we purchased our new TT. I record the date, destination, number of nights, site number and mileage. Pretty plain and simple. I don't record expenses, but I do save all receipts associated with maintenance/repairs.

When we first started camping I had a log book. Noted things liked, comments about the CG, features, and trails (we rarely go to a private CG). Things we did, or would like to do next time. After a few years, I just appeared to stop doing it.

We keep it on a shared calendar. In 10 years we have only had a single repeat visit.

My parents used to, I thought it was a pretty neat idea to remember trips. Initially my wife and I kept one, but we've fallen away from it. We'll probably keep a log for more "memorable" trips, like the cross country trip we are planning when I retire in 5 years. That way we can keep track of areas that we liked or didn't, routes that were good or bad, etc.

I have 3 small notebooks with details of every mile towed on the last 3 rigs we owned. #3 is almost full.
I keep date, place,miles between towing when away from home. Been doing it before online was a thing.

I keep one just for the mileage factor on the trailer.

In documents on my iPad I have a folder for each month we are on the road. Each day where we stoped and brief description of what we did that day. Also create a folder for each campground. State, campground, date, picture of site and description (W/E/S, level or not, type pad etc). If we go back to that campground I just add to it. Helps with the old memory and memories. Lot of info and memories especially the two years we were on the road between the time of selling our house in 2018 and moving into our new townhouse in 2020

I've got a spreadsheet with a bunch of tabs for a variety of different things. I keep a tab for each camping season with details about planned trips, reservation information, etc. Other tabs track maintenance activities, truck and trailer weight info from CAT scale visits, lists of items I'm considering getting for upgrades and modifications, etc.

I also keep a spreadsheet with basic info, location, miles traveled, etc. I keep those records in a Google Sheet.

I still keep a manual log book in all of my trucks with fuel info, maintenance, etc.

I went to Fuelly for the vehicle fuel and maintenance info in 2008. It’s great with fuel calculations, and alerting on maintenance.

Been logging since 1990. Several years back, found a commercially available logging book that I wish I'd had all those years.

I have kept a journal since the day we purchased our first trailer 15 years ago. Originally, I used a paper journal/book and wrote it all out longhand, usually in the morning after I got up and before DW did. I included a fair amount of detail and wrote it as a story, using full sentences! Later, I added a table of contents, which enabled us to fairly easily find a given trip and answer the inevitable questions to which we couldn't remember the answers.

A few years ago, I converted it all to digital, which was a major job, but Google docs optical character recognition did the bulk of the transcription. Now I'm able to keep the journal on my phone and use the search function. We find it very useful for, among other things, settling disagreements about what we did in the past (e.g., did we hike that trail already or was that restaurant any good). Since we got our new trailer 3 years ago, I've added total trip mileage and total trailer mileage info on each trip. (Note that, if journaling on your phone, you can do it just by dictating, but I rarely do.)

I started one with that s newer TT but haven't updated it recently. Guess I should before I forget what I've done and where we've camped!
