Michelin Tweels

What they are.

How they work.

Is there a future for airless tires?

Neat concept. Looks like there are still issues to work out with the excessive heat and vibration over 50 mph.

Interesting concept..., and I'm sure in time we will be riding on some form of air-less wheel/tire.

Are they compatible with Spinners? If not, we would have a serious problem around here...

I think I will let Terry try them out first. We will be waiting for your report with bated breath.

If they (Michelin) does actually put them into production, nobody will want to afford them. And Michelin will have to discriminate on what vehicles get them. The R&D on every make and model of vehicle built in the last ten years that will have to have Tweels built for them would be beyond grasp. And financial gain. Hundreds of different bolt patterns, outside wheel diameters, backspacing, load handling capabilities, distributors, suppliers, installers...the list goes on.

I'll give you an example of what happens when a 'great idea/brainstorm' goes into production in the tire industry. The Michelin PAX wheel and tire system used by ONE model of Honda (Odyssey) and a Nissan mini-van.
Google PAX wheel and tire system. 'Class action lawsuit' will come up more than once. Many stories of unhappy/unknowing owners of said wheel/tire system will trump/parallel everything else.

That would make a great spare tire for the car/truck or tt. Never have to check the air in the spare.
