Most memorable campground
Where was the most memorable campground you have ever stayed in?
Just occurred to me and I'm still thinking about it. No problem for my wife because she can't remember past 2 years?

For me it would be the Crecent City KOA. It was memorable not for what the koa had, but the nature it was in.

Walnut Hills Campground, Virginia. Site backed up to the lake. Great location for us to go in all directions site seeing. Super nice people. WiFi extenders on poles through out the campground. One right next to our site!

Not technically a campground, but it would be a small mom-and-pop RV park near the tiny town of Arco, Idaho. Stayed there on the way to Yellowstone fairly early in Covid times, so there were only a few rigs there. The owner did barbecue rib dinners for us that were absolutely extraordinary. Later that evening we were treated to a stunning lightning/thunderstorm over the Sawtooth range. Very memorable indeed.

The top ten most memorable campgrounds we have stayed??? Are boondocking spots. Not one of them charged a fee

SyLy, which became The Birches Campground in Litchfield Maine. My parents had a seasonal lot there while I was growing up.
Today, that campground bears little resemblance to the way it was in the late '60s to the late '70s. It is now very crowded.

There is no "one" memorable CG for us. So many carry memories. And not all of them good. Some were dumps and stick out in our minds because they were so bad.

LOTS of memorable camp spots.
The one that sticks out in my mind is actually a boondocking spot on a friend's grandmother's land in Southern Illinois. We camped on the edge of a bean field to see the total eclipse a few years ago. We were just a few miles from "Ground Zero" which was the spot with the longest period of "totality". It was a life-changing trip for all of us. If you haven't seen a true total eclipse, I highly recommend it.
One of the phases of the eclipse was called "The Diamond Ring". We had stopped at Crater of Diamonds on our way up, but we didn't get lucky. DW kept telling my son to keep digging so he could find a diamond for momma's ring. At the moment of "The Diamond Ring" phase, my son shouts "Look momma! We found your diamond ring"!
I still get goosebumps thinking about that day, and that whole epic trip!

Mill Hollow. Most beautiful campground I’ve ever been in.
Many many memorable boondocking locations I’m not willing to give up.

One of my favorites was an ENCORE Campground in Green Bay WI. Beautiful scenery and area. Also the casino campground right on Lake Superior (which I can't remember the name)

As said, we have visited so many beautiful campgrounds. I asked DW which was her favorite campground we have visited so far and after a couple minutes she said Cape Blanco State Park in Oregon. We found it by chance. We were southbound on US101 and saw a sign that campsites were available. Arrived at the entrance and the Ranger told us to pick any site we like and he would stop by later to collect. There was a trail right across from our site that ended on this huge incredibly beautiful beach. It seemed to go on forever. We spent the rest of the day walking the beach and were just awe struck by the sunset. We were the only ones there.. Thanks for bringing that memory back.

I wish I could remember the CG we went to when I was younger. But it was right close to an ultralight field. We used to sit all day and watch the planes take off. I also remember the weather was always beautiful when we went there. Now it's gonna haunt me and I'm gonna have to figure out where it was.

Google Maps is your friend. I've used it to find all sorts of places that I knew how to get to when I was a kid, but didn't know addresses or street names. I'd just "drive" on the map from a known waypoint. I could usually verify with "satellite" view since I can remember what the places I was looking for looked like and the landmarks around those places. Sometimes you can get a more recent view of a location using "street view" too.

Funny you should bring this topic up. I met a guy last week who has a toy hauler RV that he transports his Kolb ultralight airplane in.

Best campsite I remember was Sage Creek campground in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Free, no water or electricity. Fantastic views of Bison, Coyotes and prairie dogs.
