My Daughter's Weekend

My daughter and her family are planning a two month trip in their MH, 36' DP. My ex was at their house kid sitting while they were preparing the DP for the trip over this past weekend. Saturday afternoon a thunderstorm blew through and knocked down a very large hard wood tree in their back yard. It hit the house and did a lot of damage to their roof and the top of the tree that reached over the house deposited broken limbs, etc. on my ex's car and collapsed her hood, probably totaled my SIL's pickup, damaged my daughter's Yukon AND put a hole in the roof of the MH. They had planned to leave Sunday for their trip.

On a positive note, the holes in the house roof have been patched while waiting on permanent repair. The cars and pickup are being handled by their respective insurance companies (my ex had changed her comprehensive to zero deductible two weeks ago) and the big one for this group, Progressive came out and inspected the MH yesterday and wrote them a check for $10,000.00 for their repair. The adjuster said he was leaving this case open in case the repair turned up more damage than he could see without removing the rubber roof. I was glad to hear how Progressive handled their issue since I full time and have Progressive on my 5'er.

That's great they were so quick to cut a check to get them rolling again! We have foremost insurance because with this policy we have "New Camper Replacement”. IF our camper gets totaled I will get the original invoice price to buy a new one without the deprecated value.! Wasn't too expensive compared to the other companies either. My Step mother sells insurance and insures a lot of people at the CG. Last year after a major storm a friends TT was totaled and it was about 7 years old. The insurance came out and gave him the back the sticker price he paid for the unit 7 years back. You can’t beat that with a stick! At least if your camper is totaled you’ll get a nicer one!!
