Need car cooler recommendations

My bride has decided its time to purchase a better CAR cooler that can travel with her.

I know the name Yeti but (with no real knowledge) feel they are overpriced: $250-$400 (but I could be mistaken). Are they that much better?

Her travels require lightly supporting 2-6 people for 2-5 days/ mostly drinks, sandwich meats/cheese/bread and some kids meds. Vague, huh? I'm thinking something in a mid size, whatever that is, or should she just go large for something that can do it all?

So what are the alternatives; maybe more economical but with similar quality? Or is it clearly a Yeti?

Thank you.

We have been using our Coleman Thermoelectric cooler for 5 years now. Had to replace the 120VAC/12VDC transformer about 3 years ago. Works fine for our trips. Works on 120VAC or 12VDC. I do not recommend for dry-camping as it will kill your battery. You can hear the fan, so we point it away from us, it is not that bad. Keeps the temperature about 40 degrees lower than the surrounding temperature. Perfect size for the trips.

Please disregard above request; I discovered she didn't have the necessary time frame to get recommendations, order one and allow for shipping.

Amazon will get it here Monday and bride/ daughter/ grandkids depart on 4K road trip Tuesday.

I played it safe (it's ONLY money - ouch) and ordered a Yeti Tundra 50, $380.

I guess folks could still add their recommendations for the next camper looking for ideas.

I tried the Yeti and was not impressed, still had to add ice every few days, not much better than my Igloo marine cooler for a fraction of the cost. So after vacation it got returned.

Need car cooler recommendations

RTIC makes coolers similar to Yeti for about half as much. RTIC says they hold more than Yeti as well. I have two RTIC coolers (they make three different sizes) and I'm very happy with them.

I will second the rtic recommendation. around Christmas they had a killer sale on them and I purchased one on the recommendation from a co-worker. it is bear proof and so far is holding the ice very well. I t is a very heavy cooler so keep that in mind.

Walmart has a line that is half the price and pick up and go in several sizes. It's a cooler and may amount to one day difference in performance. Ozark Trail.

Just my opinion if you need it ASAP.

Yeti's are way overpriced and over rated IMO. There are many alternatives that don't require a 2nd mortgage to purchase.

Here's mine:

I have a Sovaro. Got a gift certificate for most of it. Nice cooler but I don't think I'd actually full out buy one. Keeps ice pretty damn good though, I have to say. And it makes for a great conversation piece around the fire!
