Looks like a war or military memorial with the wreaths on the pillars in the background.

I think Bob got it! It does look like the World War Two Memorial Monument/and Fountain in D.C. We took a pic of us and the girls by it last year when we flew to DC with them...

That`s the one, remarkably the last one to be built. I`ve also visited the Korean War memorial and the Vietnam War memorial. Quite a sight with over 58,000 names on it. We hear about the numbers but when you see all those names on that long wall, it puts the numbers in perspective. A very solemn place.

I agree with dlfeather, Mackinac Island, Michigan. I was also there in 1957. Not sure which one of us spelled it right, though.

That's it! Mackinac (pronounced Mackinaw) Island, Michigan! I was so happy to learn that we could take Breezi with us. She was allowed on the ferry, and she was allowed in all buildings except for the Grand Hotel and any restaraunt that didn't have outdoor seating. The place we did eat at, brought her her own little dish for water and food. She was even allowed to take the island horse drawn tours with us.

Oh, btw! I took a pic of this horse drawn trailer that was made by Jayco. The island had quite a few of them to carry passengers in.

The Jayco trailer is neat. I was only 7 when we went there but I remember a lot about the Mackinac trip, the horse drawn "taxis" and the Grand Hotel...now if only I could remember what I had for breakfast today.
