New rigs

Several new trailers with new tow rigs in the campground this weekend. Newbie’s setting up. Brings back memories from long ago when we were newbie’s. Watching them opening the boxes figuring what the pieces are and where they go. Guess they did not do a dry set up in the drive way. I was “encouraged“ to not help. They need to figure it all out.

Yes I see lots of newbies when I go as well. The biggest issue I see when they set up is their campers are not level at all, and I mean NOT at all. Sometimes I wonder how they sleep at such angles and their fridge is gonna suffer in the long run. Sometimes I want to say something but with this whole Covid thing I pretty much keep to myself.

But you gotta admit....it's fun to watch them learn. (as we all did)

When I was new I didn’t do a dry setup at home. It’s not necessary. Sometimes learning the hard way is necessary. I luckily never had an issue that I wasn’t prepared for... as far as camper being level. I’ve seen many campers not straight in the camp spot and not level how I’d do it but those people managed and had their good times... not everyone is OCD or cares about the same things as me. As long as they aren’t loud or walking through my site I never cared or judged them on their setup...

I have seen at least 50 paper/buyers tags (I stopped keeping track after 50) on RV’s during the last 2 weeks during our trip to Yellowstone and back to the Dallas area.

Times have changed. When we purchased our first TT 3 years ago everyone was helpful, and I mean everyone. I told first park when I made reservations this was my first trip. They not only helped me back in (while teaching my DW how to guide me) they showed me how to set up correctly. 2nd and 3rd park escorted me to spot and watched (and helped me back in). On a few other stops "old timers" would see me setting up and come over and ask if I needed help or made suggestions. Covid or not, I've got a mask, and will pay it forward. That is the RV environment I want to help create. In addition, I have also watched/tried to help the newbies who don't want help and I admit it is fun to watch.
