Not a Jayco, but my old camper renovation

This was a 1972 Dutch Craft hand me down from the in-laws. Needed some work. The roof leaked. The toilet, fridge, and furnace did not work. It had the drop axles which made it ride low and drag everything. And there were some color coordination issues. I changed axles and got everything working. We used it for 4 years and had great times before upgrading this year. Wish I had taken more pics of the project. I wonder if my new one will last 42 years?

That is a nice looking old trailer. From the trailers we had in the 70's and early 80's I am convinced that the roofs are much better now than then. We are currently doing touch up work on an older trailer for summer use in the North. I hope our new trailer is as sound as this older one in 18 years.

Amazing what some paint and decals will do! That two tone paint is such a dead giveaway of an old trailer.

Very true! But the paint & decals on the outside was the easy part. It was all the non cosmetic stuff that was time consuming.

WOW, good job! On the axels, did you do a axel flip or new springs to lift it up some?

Thanks! I just replaced with straight axles and 15" wheels/tires. The old ones were a 4" drop axle with 14" wheels/tires. I don't know how anyone got in & out of a parking lot with the old set up. Plus, I couldn't get it to line up with the ball on my truck even with a drop hitch.
