Our dog Buddy

Buddy goes in for surgery this morning. He tore his ACL in his right leg this time. They will be doing a TPLO to modify the knee joint geometry so he no longer needs the ACL. He will be restricted from play for 10-12 weeks min. Buddy is a 6 year old 110lb Bull Mastiff.

Please pray for Buddy. I know he will come out of surgery just fine with the prays from all of you.

We are wishing Buddy the best. We had some doggy surgeries last summer for Abby.

We're all pulling for your Buddy. Sure hope he comes through surgery with flying colors. If our Mindi (dachshund) could, she would be rooting for him too !

Just got a call from the Doctor. They are going to perform the procedure now and will call in a few hours when he comes out of the OR.

Dr. called. Puppy is out of surgery and awake. They said everything went very well. If all goes well tonight he can come home tomorrow. He now has metal plates in both back legs.

Now the 8-12 week recovery starts. Try keeping an energetic large dog to stay calm and lay down. It was not easy the 1st time he had the TPLO and I am sure it will not be much easier this time but we will get through it together.

Yippee !!!! Sure glad to hear things went well for Buddy. And thank God for a good and competent surgeon. Keep us posted on his recovery, and maybe even a pic if you can get him to pause for a photo op.

Wow, only 110lbs? I would have thought more then that. We used to have a St. Bernard that was around 150. Now I have a 20lb dog. lol

Glad everything seems to be OK for now. Wish everyone luck!

He used to be 125lbs when he had the TPLO procedure on his left leg. The Vet wanted us to get him down to 110lbs as it would be easier on his rear legs. I am sure that is why his partially torn ACL on his right side lasted 18 months since the left one went.

No calls from the hospital last night so all must have went well over night. They told me no news is good news. Waiting for the call to come get him today.

I will update this thread with a picture once Buddy gets home today.

A heart felt Thank You goes out to all of you, from me and my family, for all your prayers and thoughts!

Looks like he's doing pretty well, all things considered, and glad to be home. Bet he won't want to stay down for very long, though.

Buddy is doing much better today. He is acting like himself again. He is also putting some weight on his leg. Now is the tough part, keeping him calm and restricting movement to the minimum.

Thanks again to everyone for your thoughts and prayers for out "little" puppy.
