Our little upgrade
We were camping at our favorite resort last week and I had the feeling I would be leaving with a newer camper. Turns out, that feeling was correct!
At Barton Lake RV, the sales lot is right on the same property as the resort and one of the things we do is tour the camper lot checking out all the new and used models, usually just day dreaming of the day we upgrade. But that day, there was a gorgeous Jayco White Hawk proudly sitting there amongst the used trailers and I knew, this was the one. Now, can we afford it!? It's only two years old and it didn't look like it had even been used; not that I'm complaining.
My wife and I chit-chat with John, ours sales guy, and we run some numbers. We tell him, if we can get it down to this, we'll do it. However, it was late that day, so we had to wait for an answer.
He calls me the next morning with good news; it comes in under what we expected, so the ball is rolling. We meet and get everything going officially and set up an appointment for the pick-up date.
We arrive first thing in the morning to take possession. They give us the orientation and walk through/around; pretty thorough, too. We're not newbees, but it's a real nice touch on their part.
We pick up a few supplies from the store there and get hooked up, attach the extended mirrors (wish that wasn't the case, these things are so janky), and turn on the Furrion camera. John comes out and gives us a fist bump and thanks us for the opportunity. We say our goodbyes and well-wishes.
Wow, what a feeling it was pulling that TT out of their garage/service dept.! I admit, I was relishing the attention from the people around the lot, as they watched this TT being pulled out. That was cool.
The older set-up was a 2004 Surveyor by Forest River at 3,970# (dry) and 30'6" overall.
The newer set-up is 2018 Jayco White Hawk at 8,105# (dry) and 37'6" overall.
The TT pulled very nicely for the forty minute drive home. I had to adjust the power brakes a few times until it felt right. I was surprised how well it takes corners. Initially, I thought I'd have to swing way out for a right turn, but it's not too bad. And the WDH set-up is awesome. Nice ride; really smooth. (I ended up with the Equal-i-zer since it came highly recommended.)
All-in-all, super impressed with the whole experience; from buying to bringing it home. We're looking forward to many wonderful years of camping, uh, I mean, glamping, with this TT.
Also, glad to be a part of this community! I hope to be able to help out, in some way, down the road.
- John

Tell me about it! We're down to five now and still a bit crowded, though, they are much bigger now, as well.

Well, as we speak it's rusting away. But it's an '03 GMC Savana 2500 with 6.0L we picked up in '05 with around 30k miles. Currently 170,500 miles and still going strong. 12 passenger since we have 8 kids, though the three older ones are out of the house now.
I take out all the rear seats and load up camping gear, bikes, etc... also, that stuff is lighter than the seats, so I like that it shaves some weight off. Then one of the boys rides shotgun while the rest of the family is in the '04 minivan, which is a Toyota Sienna with over 140k miles.
